Claims
- 1. A conjugated linoleic acid composition comprising:
a mixture of free fatty acid conjugated linoleic acid isomers, said mixture containing at least approximately 80% t10,c12 octadecadienoic acid.
- 2. The composition of claim 1, further comprising a food product incorporating said t10,c12 octadecadienoic acid.
- 3. The composition of claim 2, wherein said food product is for human consumption.
- 4. The composition of claim 2, wherein said food product is a feed formulated for animal consumption.
- 5. A conjugated linoleic acid composition comprising:
a mixture of free fatty acid conjugated linoleic acid isomers, said mixture containing at least approximately 92% t10,c12 octadecadienoic acid.
- 6. The composition of claim 5, further comprising a food product incorporating said t10,c12 octadecadienoic acid.
- 7. The composition of claim 6, wherein said food product is for human consumption.
- 8. The composition of claim 6, wherein said food product is a feed formulated for animal consumption.
- 9. An acylglycerol composition comprising a plurality of acylglycerol molecules of the structure:

- 10. The composition of claim 9, further comprising a food product incorporating said t10,c12 octadecadienoic acid.
- 11. The composition of claim 10, wherein said food product is for human consumption.
- 12. The composition of claim 10, wherein said food product is a feed formulated for animal consumption.
- 13. An acylglycerol composition comprising a plurality of acylglycerol molecules of the structure:

- 14. The composition of claim 13, further comprising a food product incorporating said t10,c12 octadecadienoic acid.
- 15. The composition of claim 14, wherein said food product is for human consumption.
- 16. The composition of claim 14, wherein said food product is a feed formulated for animal consumption.
- 17. A conjugated linoleic acid composition produced by the process comprising:
a) providing a commodity seed oil and a method for treating said seed oil; and b) treating said seed oil under conditions such that a preparation comprising t10,c12 octadecadienoic acid is produced, wherein said preparation is at least approximately 80% t10,c12 CLA.
- 18. The composition of claim 17, further comprising a food product incorporating said t10,c12 octadecadienoic acid.
- 19. The composition of claim 17, wherein said food product is a feed formulated for animal consumption.
- 20. A conjugated linoleic acid composition produced by the process comprising:
a) providing a commodity seed oil; and b) forming a mixture of fatty acid alkylesters from said seed oil; c) conjugating said fatty acid alkylesters to form conjugated fatty acid alkylesters, said conjugated fatty acid alkylesters characterized in comprising t10,c12 alkylester; d) diluting said conjugated fatty acid alkyl esters in a solvent to form a solution; and e) precipitating t10,c12 alkylester from said solution.
- 21. The composition of claim 20, further comprising a food product incorporating said t10,c12 octadecadienoic acid.
- 22. The composition of claim 20, wherein said food product is a feed formulated for animal consumption.
- 23. A conjugated linoleic acid composition comprising:
a mixture of alkylesters of conjugated linoleic acid, said mixture containing at least approximately 80% t10,c12 alkylester.
- 24. The conjugated linoleic acid composition of claim 23, further comprising a food product incorporating said t10,c12 alkylester.
- 25. A conjugated linoleic acid composition comprising:
a mixture of alkylesters of conjugated linoleic acid, said mixture containing at least approximately 92% t10,c12 alkylester.
- 26. The conjugated linoleic acid composition of claim 25, further comprising a food product incorporating said t10,c12 alkylester.
- 27. A conjugated linoleic acid composition comprising:
about 30-60% c9,t11 octadecadienoic acid and about 15-30% t10,c12 octadecadienoic acid, so that the ratio of c9,t11 octadecadienoic acid to t10,c12 octadecadienoic acid is about 2:1.
- 28. The composition of claim 27 wherein said conjugated linoleic composition is selected from the group consisting of free fatty acids, triglycerides and alkylesters.
