Claims
- 1. A process for catalytically isomerizing C.sub.10.spsb.+ n-paraffins comprising contacting a hydrocarbon feedstock comprising C.sub.10.spsb.+ n-paraffins wherein the aromatic content of the feedstock is less than about 20 weight percent of the feedstock and the initial boiling point of the feedstock is at least 150.degree. C., under isomerization conditions, with a catalyst comprising (i) an acidic component which is a large pore zeolite having a framework silica/alumina ratio greater than 150:l and a hydrocarbon adsorption capacity of at least 6% by weight at 50.degree. C. and (ii) a hydrogenation component; and recoverin C.sub.10.spsb.+ iso-para with C.sub.10 minus material content substantially equal to that of the feed.
- 2. The process of claim 1, wherein said isomerization conditions include a temperature of about 150.degree. C. to 500.degree. C.
- 3. The process of claim 1, wherein the isomerization conditions include a temperature of about 250.degree. C. to about 350.degree. C.
- 4. A process according to claim 1 in which the zeolite hydrocarbon feedstock has a boiling range of 150.degree. C. to 560.degree. C.
- 5. A process according to claim 1 in which the hydrogenation component is a metal of Group VIIIA of the Periodic Table.
- 6. A process according to claim 5 in which the hydrogenation component comprises platinum.
- 7. A process according to claim 5 in which the hydrogenation component comprises palladium.
- 8. A process according to claim 1 in which the feedstock is contacted with the catalyst in the presence of hydrogen.
- 9. A process according to claim 1 in which the feedstock is contacted with the catalyst at a pressure up to 25,000 kPa and a space velocity of 0.1 to 10.
- 10. The process according to claim 1, wherein the framework silica:alumina ratio is greater than 200:1.
- 11. The process according to claim 1, wherein the framework silica:alumina ratio is greater than 500:1.
- 12. A process for catalytically isomerizing C.sub.10.spsb.+ n-paraffins comprising contacting a hydrocarbon feedstock comprising C.sub.10.spsb.+ n-paraffins wherein the intiial boiling point of the feedstock is at least 150.degree. C., in the presence of hydrogen, with a catalyst under conditions effective to isomerize said C.sub.10.spsb.+ n-paraffins in the presence of said catalyst wherein said catalyst comprises (i) an acidic component which is a large pore zeolite having a framework silica/alumina ratio greater than 150:1 and a hydrocarbon adsorption capacity of at least 6% by weight at 50.degree. C. and (ii) a hydrogenation component and wherein said conditions include a tempearture ranging from 150.degree. C. to 500.degree. C. and a pressure ranging from 565 to 1435 psig; and recovering C.sub.10.spsb.+ iso-paraffins, with C.sub.10 minus material content substantially equal to that of the feed.
- 13. The process of claim 12, wherein the isomerization conditions include a temperature of about 250.degree. C. to abuot 350.degree. C.
- 14. A process according to claim 12, in which the hdyrocarbon feedstock has a boiling range of 150.degree. C. to 560.degree. C.
- 15. A process according to claim 12, in which the zeolite has a silica:alumina ratio of at least 200:1.
- 16. A process according to claim 12, in which the hydrogenation component is a metal of Group VIIIA of the Periodic Table.
- 17. A process according to claim 12, in which the hydrogenation component comprises platinum.
- 18. A process according to claim 12, in which the hydrogenation component comprises palladium.
