Claims
- 1. A compound of the formula: ##STR10## wherein A is such that the heterocyclic nucleus formed is an isothiazole or isoxazole ring; X.sub.1 and X.sub.2, which may be the same or different are hydrogen, lower alkyl, halogen or amino; k is 0 to 2 and m is 2 or 3 provided that the sum of k and m is 3 or 4; E is oxygen, sulphur or NR.sub.2 ; R.sub.1 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, benzoyl or dimethylaminoethyl; and R.sub.2 is hydrogen, nitro, cyano, alkanesulphonyl having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, benzenesulphonyl, halobenzenesulphonyl or toluenesulphonyl.
- 2. A compound of claim 1 wherein X.sub.1 is hydrogen, methyl, bromine, amino or hydroxyl and X.sub.2 is hydrogen.
- 3. A compound of claim 1 wherein k is 1 or 2 and m is 2 or 3.
- 4. A compound of claim 3 wherein k is 1 and m is 2.
- 5. A compound of claim 1 wherein E is sulphur or NR.sub.2 wherein R.sub.2 is cyano.
- 6. A compound of claim 1 wherein R.sub.1 is methyl.
- 7. A compound of claim 1, said compound being (isothiazol-3-yl)methyl 2-(N'-methylthioureido)ethyl sulphoxide.
- 8. A compound of claim 1, said compound being (4-bromoisothiazol-3-yl)methyl 2-(N'-methylthioureido)ethyl sulphoxide.
- 9. A compound of claim 1, said compound being N-cyano-N'-methyl-N"-[2-((3-isothiazolyl)methylsulphinyl)ethyl]guanidine.
- 10. A pharmaceutical composition to inhibit histamine H-2 receptors comprising in an amount effective to inhibit said receptors a compound of claim 1 together with a pharmaceutically acceptable diluent or carrier.
