Claims
- 1. A throttle and transmission control for a watercraft comprising a first, transmission control lever supported for movement between forward, neutral and reverse positions, a second, throttle control lever supported for movement between idle, full speed and intermediate positions, means for mounting said levers for movement in parallel directions, one behind the other, said mounting means being effective to space the operating portions of said levers from each other when said levers are in adjacent positions, said operating portions of said throttle control lever and said transmission control lever being adjacent to each other when said transmission control lever is in said reverse position and said throttle control lever is in said full speed portion.
- 2. A throttle and transmission control as set forth in claim 1 wherein the throttle control lever and the transmission control lever are offset laterally with respect to each other.
- 3. A throttle and transmission control as set forth in claim 1 wherein the operating portions of the levers are at the same height when they are in their adjacent positions.
- 4. A throttle and transmission control as set forth in claim 1 wherein the operating portions of the levers are at different heights when they are in their adjacent positions.
- 5. A throttle and transmission control as set forth in claim 4 wherein the height differences are achieved by providing different length levers.
- 6. A throttle and transmission control as set forth in claim 4 wherein the height differences are achieved by mounting the levers at different vertical heights.
- 7. A throttle and transmission control for a watercraft comprising a first, transmission control lever supported for movement between forward, neutral and reverse positions, a second, throttle control lever supported for movement between idle, full speed and intermediate positions, means for mounting said levers for movement in parallel directions, one behind the other, said levers having operating portions disposed at the same height when in adjacent positions.
- 8. A throttle and transmission control for a watercraft comprising a first, transmission control lever supported for movement between forward, neutral and reverse positions, a second, throttle control lever supported for movement between idle, full speed and intermediate positions, means for mounting said levers for movement in parallel directions, one behind the other, said levers having operating portions disposed at different heights when in adjacent positions.
- 9. A throttle and transmission control for a watercraft having a first and second engine each having a respective speed control device, first and second propulsion means each having a forward drive condition, a neutral condition and a reverse drive condition, said control comprising a pair of first and second transmission control levers each supported for movement between forward, neutral and reverse positions, each of said first and second transmission control levers having means for connection to said first and said second propulsion means respectively for operation of these respective drive conditions, a pair of first and second throttle control levers each supported for movement between idle, full speed and intermediate positions, each of said first and said second throttle control levers having means for connection to a respective one of said first and said second engine speed control drives for controlling the speed of the respective engine, means for mounting all said levers for movement in parallel directions with said transmission control levers and said throttle control levers in side by side relation and with one of said pairs being behind the other of said pairs, said mounting means being effective to space the operating portions of the respective said levers of said pairs from each other when said respective levers of said pairs are in adjacent positions.
- 10. A throttle and transmission control as set forth in claim 9 wherein the pair of throttle control levers and the pair of transmission control levers are offset laterally with respect to each other.
- 11. A throttle and transmission control as set forth in claim 9 wherein the operating ends of the respective of the pairs of throttle control levers and the respective ends of the pair of transmission control levers are adjacent to each other when the respective transmission control lever is in its reverse position and the respective throttle control lever is at full speed position.
- 12. A throttle and transmission control as set forth in claim 11 wherein the operating portions of the levers are at the same height when they are in their adjacent positions.
- 13. A throttle and transmission control as set forth in claim 12 wherein the operating portion of the levers are at different heights when they are in their adjacent positions.
- 14. A throttle and transmission control as set forth in claim 13 wherein the height differences are achieved by providing different length levers.
- 15. A throttle and transmission control as set forth in claim 13 wherein the height differences are achieved by mounting the levers at different vertical heights.
