Claims
- 1. A jet pump assembly, comprising:
a rotatable shaft adapted to be operationally coupled to a power source; an impeller operationally connected to the rotatable shaft; a housing surrounding at least a portion of the rotatable shaft operationally coupled to the impeller; and at least one single bearing unit disposed between the housing and the rotatable shaft, permitting rotation of the rotatable shaft therein, the bearing unit comprising at least two sets of rolling components disposed, side-by-side.
- 2. The jet pump assembly according to claim 1, wherein the bearing unit further comprises:
an inner race operationally coupled to one of either the housing or the rotatable shaft; and an outer race operationally coupled to one of either the housing or the rotatable shaft,
wherein the rolling components are disposed between the inner and outer races.
- 3. The jet pump assembly of claim 1, wherein the rotatable shaft comprises:
at least one or more of an engine output shaft, a drive shaft, and an impeller shaft.
- 4. The jet pump assembly of claim 1, wherein the bearing has at least one seal.
- 5. The jet pump assembly of claim 4, wherein the bearing is sealed by at least one seal at either end of the bearing.
- 6. The jet pump assembly of claim 1, wherein the bearing further comprises:
lubricant disposed within a cavity formed between the inner and outer races.
- 7. The jet pump assembly of claim 6, wherein the lubricant comprises:
at least one selected from a group comprising grease and oil.
- 9. The jet pump assembly of claim 1, further comprising:
at least one seal disposed between the rotatable shaft and the housing.
- 10. The jet pump assembly of claim 9, wherein the at least one seal comprises two seals disposed side-by-side.
- 11. The jet pump assembly of claim 9, wherein the at least one seal comprises three lip seals.
- 12. The jet pump assembly of claim 1, wherein the rolling components comprise:
at least one selected from a group comprising spherical balls, cylindrically-shaped rollers, and conically-shaped rollers.
- 13. The jet pump assembly of claim 1, wherein the at least two sets of rolling components comprises exactly two sets of rolling components.
- 14. The jet pump assembly of claim 13, wherein the rolling components comprise:
at least one selected from a group comprising spherical balls, cylindrically-shaped rollers, and conically-shaped rollers.
- 15. The jet pump assembly of claim 1, wherein the housing is a stator hub.
- 16. The jet pump assembly of claim 2, wherein the inner and outer races form an angular contact bearing.
- 17. The jet pump assembly of claim 1, wherein the bearing unit is a deep groove bearing.
- 18. A watercraft, comprising:
a hull; a helm disposed on the hull; a steerable nozzle disposed at the rear of the hull, operatively connected to the helm; and a jet pump assembly, comprising
a rotatable shaft adapted to be operationally coupled to a power source, an impeller operationally connected to the rotatable shaft, a housing surrounding at least a portion of the rotatable shaft operationally coupled to the impeller, and at least one single bearing unit disposed between the housing and the rotatable shaft, permitting rotation of the rotatable shaft therein, the bearing unit comprising at least two sets of rolling components disposed, side-by-side.
- 19. The watercraft according to claim 18, wherein the bearing comprises:
an inner race operationally coupled to one of either the housing or the rotatable shaft; and an outer race operationally coupled to one of either the housing or the rotatable shaft,
wherein the rolling components are disposed between the inner and outer races.
- 20. The watercraft of claim 18, wherein the rotatable shaft comprises:
at least one or more of an engine output shaft, a drive shaft, and an impeller shaft.
- 21. The watercraft of claim 18, wherein the bearing has at least one seal.
- 22. The watercraft of claim 21, wherein the bearing is sealed by at least one seal at either end of the bearing.
- 23. The watercraft of claim 18, wherein the bearing further comprises:
lubricant disposed within a cavity formed between the inner and outer races.
- 24. The watercraft of claim 23, wherein the lubricant comprises:
at least one selected from a group comprising grease and oil.
- 25. The watercraft of claim 18, further comprising:
at least one seal disposed between the rotatable shaft and the housing.
- 26. The watercraft of claim 25, wherein the at least one seal comprises two seals disposed side-by-side.
- 27. The watercraft of claim 25, wherein the at least one seal comprises three lip seals.
- 28. The watercraft of claim 18, wherein the rolling components comprise:
at least one selected from a group comprising spherical balls, cylindrically-shaped rollers, and conically-shaped rollers.
- 29. The watercraft of claim 18, wherein the at least two sets of rolling components comprises exactly two sets of rolling components.
- 30. The watercraft of claim 29, wherein the rolling components comprise:
at least one selected from a group comprising spherical balls, cylindrically-shaped rollers, and conically-shaped rollers.
- 31. The watercraft of claim 18, wherein the housing is a stator hub.
- 32. The watercraft of claim 19, wherein the inner and outer races are an angular contact bearing.
- 33. The watercraft of claim 18, wherein the bearing unit is a deep groove bearing.
