Claims
- 1. A kit for performing a primer extension reaction adapted for subsequent electrophoretic analysis comprising:
- a primer, the primer having a polymer chain attached thereto, wherein the primer is extendable by a nucleic acid polymerase, and wherein the polymer chain has a charge/translational frictional drag in a non-sieving medium that is different from that of the primer; and
- a nucleic acid polymerase.
- 2. The kit of claim 1 further including nucleoside triphosphates.
- 3. The kit of claim 1 further including at least one chain terminating nucleotide.
- 4. The kit of claim 1 wherein the polymer chain is uncharged.
- 5. The kit of claim 1 wherein the polymer chain is substantially uncharged.
- 6. The kit of claim 1 wherein the polymer chain has a charge/subunit density that is substantially less than that of the primer.
