Claims
- 1. An isolated polypeptide comprising at least 80% sequence identity to a polypeptide of SEQ ID NO: 2; wherein the percent sequence identity is determined over the entire length of SEQ ID NO: 2 using GAP alignment under default parameters, and wherein the isolated polypeptide has at least one Ku80 activity.
- 2. A recombinant expression cassette comprising a polynucleotide encoding the polypeptide of claim 1 operably linked to a promoter.
- 3. A host cell comprising the isolated polypeptide of claim 1.
- 4. The host cell of claim 3, wherein the host cell is a plant cell.
- 5. The plant cell of claim 4, wherein the plant cell is selected from the group consisting of sorghum, maize, rice, wheat, soybean, sunflower, canola, alfalfa, cotton, barley, and millet.
- 6. A transgenic plant regenerated from the plant cell of claim 4.
- 7. The plant of claim 6, wherein the plant is selected from the group consisting of sorghum, maize, rice, wheat, soybean, sunflower, canola, alfalfa, cotton, barley, and millet.
- 8. A transgenic seed of the transformed plant of claim 6.
- 9. An isolated polypeptide encoded by a polynucleotide of SEQ ID NO: 1, wherein the isolated polypeptide has at least one Ku80 activity.
- 10. A host cell comprising the isolated polypeptide of claim 9.
- 11. The host cell of claim 10, wherein the host cell is a plant cell.
- 12. The plant cell of claim 11, wherein the plant cell is selected from the group consisting of sorghum, maize, rice, wheat, soybean, sunflower, canola, alfalfa, cotton, barley, and millet.
- 13. A transgenic plant regenerated from the plant cell of claim 11.
- 14. The plant of claim 13, wherein the plant is selected from the group consisting of sorghum, maize, rice, wheat, soybean, sunflower, canola, alfalfa, cotton, barley, and millet.
- 15. A transgenic seed of the transformed plant of claim 13.
- 16. An isolated polypeptide comprising at least 20 contiguous amino acids of a polypeptide of SEQ ID NO: 2.
- 17. An isolated polypeptide of SEQ ID NO: 2, wherein the isolated polypeptide has at least one Ku80 activity.
- 18. A host cell comprising the isolated polypeptide of claim 17.
- 19. The host cell of claim 18, wherein the host cell is a plant cell.
- 20. The plant cell of claim 19, wherein the plant cell is selected from the group consisting of sorghum, maize, rice, wheat, soybean, sunflower, canola, alfalfa, cotton, barley, and millet.
- 21. A transgenic plant regenerated from the plant cell of claim 19.
- 22. The plant of claim 21, wherein the plant is selected from the group consisting of sorghum, maize, rice, wheat, soybean, sunflower, canola, alfalfa, cotton, barley, and millet.
- 23. A transgenic seed of the transformed plant of claim 21.
- 24. An isolated polypeptide wherein:
(a) the polypeptide comprises at least 20 contiguous amino acids of SEQ ID NO: 2; (b) the polypeptide, when presented as an immunogen, elicits the production of an antibody which specifically binds to the polypeptide of SEQ ID NO: 2; and (c) the polypeptide does not bind to antisera raised against the polypeptide of SEQ ID NO: 2 after the antisera has been fully immunosorbed with the polypeptide of SEQ ID NO: 2.
