- 2. The method of claim 1, further comprising forming the object by blow molding.
- 3. The method of claim 1 further comprising forming the object by injection molding.
- 4. The method of claim 1, wherein the at least one edge further includes each edge of the label that is generally parallel to the fluid flow during the injecting fluid process.
- 5. The method of claim 1, further comprising providing an object lid, the lid comprising:
a pan area, a nesting ring defining the perimeter of the pan area and at least one side wall; the at least one side wall having at least one ledge formed thereon such that a label to be attached is position proximate said ledge, wherein when high melt resin is injected into said mold to form the in mold object lid, resin flows through the mold over the label such that no resin is permitted to flow between the label and the at least one side wall.
- 6. A method of reducing run time required to produce a labeled plastic resin object comprising:
(a) creating an in mold label for a plastic resin object, wherein at least one edge of the label comprises a zig-zag edge cut; (b) forming the object in mold from plastic resin, wherein at least one ledge is formed in the mold; (c) applying the label to the object during the formation of the object, wherein the label is placed within the mold proximate at least one ledge and resting on a label receiving portion; and (d) injecting high melt resin into said mold wherein the resin flows through the mold over the label such that no resin is permitted to flow between the label and the label receiving portion.
- 7. A method of reducing the manufacturing waste associated with bleeding of label color during manufacture of in mold labeled plastic resin objects, comprising:
(a) creating a label having edges and at least one registration area adjacent to at least one edge, and at least one design area on the label interior relative to the registration area, wherein the at least one edge is defined by a non-linear edge cut, the at least one edge cut completely contained within the at least one registration area without passing into the design area, and wherein the at least one registration area is characterized by a color; (b) providing a mold for plastic object formation, wherein at least one ledge is formed in the mold proximate a label receiving portion; (c) forming a molded plastic resin object while applying the label to the object wherein high melt resin is injected into the mold, the resin flows through the mold over the label such that no resin is permitted to flow between the label and the label receiving portion, and wherein the object has a resin color that is the same color as the registration area; and (d) forming an object cover comprising:
a pan area and at least one side wall, the at least one side wall having at least one ledge formed thereon such that a label to be attached is position proximate said ledge, wherein when high melt resin is injected into said mold to form the in mold object lid, resin flows through the mold over the label such that no resin is permitted to flow between the label and the at least one side wall.
- 8. The method of claim 7 wherein at least one registration area comprises a registration area adjacent each edge and each registration area having the same color.
- 9. The method of claim 7 wherein the non-linear edge cut is a zig-zag.
- 10. A molded plastic container comprising:
a base; side walls, wherein at least one ledge formed on at least one side wall; a label formed on the outer surface of at least one side wall proximate at least one ledge, the label including a sheet of label material applied to the plastic resin container in mold, such that when fluid resin is injected into the mold, the fluid flows through the mold over the label such that no fluid is permitted to flow between the label and a label receiving portion, the sheet having at least one edge; and the at least one edge includes a non-linear edge cut.
- 11. The molded plastic container of claim 10, further comprising:
a container opening; a container opening cover adapted for placement over said container opening, the cover having:
a pan portion, side walls and at least one ledge formed on at least one side wall, wherein a label is formed on the outer surface of at least one side walls proximate the at least one ledge such that when fluid resin is injected into the mold, the fluid flows through the mold over the label such that no fluid is permitted to flow between the label and a label receiving portion.
- 12. The molded plastic container of claim 10, wherein the label material includes a polymer based substrate.
- 13. The molded plastic container of claim 10, wherein the label has a dimension that is equivalent to the circumference of the container, thereby wrapping completely around the container.
- 14. The molded plastic container of claim 13, wherein the label wraps around the container and at least two edges overlap to define a registration area.
- 15. The molded plastic container of claim 14, wherein the container is a cup.
- 16. A molded plastic resin container cover comprising:
a pan area, a nesting ring defining the perimeter of the pan area, at least one side wall, and a label; and the at least one side wall having at least one ledge formed thereon such that a label to be attached is position proximate said ledge, wherein when high melt resin is injected into said mold to form the in mold cover, resin flows through the mold over the label such that no resin is permitted to flow between the label and the at least one side wall.
- 17. The molded plastic resin container cover of claim 16, further comprising an in mold label formed in the pan area of the cover.
- 18. The molded plastic resin container cover of claim 17, wherein the pan area label and side wall label are a unitary label.
