Claims
- 1. A label sheet construction, comprising:
a liner sheet; a facestock sheet adhered to the liner sheet; at least one cut line through the facestock sheet but not the liner sheet to form a facestock sheet label releasably adhered to the liner sheet; a first weakened line segment in the facestock sheet on one side of the label and a second weakened line segment on an opposite side of the label, the line segments lying in the same line, the same line extending at least substantially from a first side edge of the sheet to an opposite second side edge of the sheet, the same line passing through a portion of the label; and the facestock sheet being bendable back on the same line to thereby separate the liner sheet away from a portion of the label such that the label portion can be grasped by a user and the label peeled off of the liner sheet.
- 2. The construction of claim 1 wherein the first weakened line segment is a cut line through the facestock sheet to the liner sheet.
- 3. The construction of claim 2 wherein the second weakened line segment is a cut line through the facestock sheet to the liner sheet.
- 4. The construction of claim 2 wherein an end of the first weakened line segment closest to the label is spaced a short distance therefrom.
- 5. The construction of claim 1 wherein the first weakened line segment has a discontinuous spacing between adjacent labels.
- 6. The construction of claim 1 wherein the liner sheet has a silicone coating, and a layer of adhesive is sandwiched between the facestock sheet and the silicone coating.
- 7. The construction of claim 1 wherein the label has a burst configuration with alternating long and short points.
- 8. The construction of claim 1 further comprising the same line defining a first line, a third weakened line segment in the facestock sheet on one side of the label and a fourth weakened line segment on an opposite side of the label, the third and fourth line segments lying in the same line which defines a second line, the second line extending at least substantially from a first side edge of the sheet to an opposite second side edge of the sheet, the second line passing through a portion of the label closer to a center of the label than the first line, the second line being spaced from and generally parallel to the first line; and the facestock sheet being bendable back on the first and second lines to thereby pull the liner sheet away from a portion of the label whereby the label portion can be grasped by a user and the label peeled off of the liner sheet.
- 9. The construction of claim 8 wherein weakened portions of the first line are the same length as those of the second line.
- 10. The construction of claim 9 wherein at least one of the first and second line segments has an unweakened portion.
- 11. The construction of claim 10 wherein each of the weakened line segments is a cut line segment through the facestock sheet.
- 12. The construction of claim 9 wherein the first and second lines have the same folding force.
- 13. The construction of claim 12 wherein the weakened line segments are die cut lines.
- 14. The construction of claim 8 wherein the label has a burst configuration.
- 15. The construction of claim 14 wherein the burst configuration has evenly spaced, peripheral alternating long and short points.
- 16. A label sheet construction, comprising:
a liner sheet; a facestock sheet adhered to the liner sheet; the facestock sheet including a line of facestock sheet labels; the facestock sheet including a weakened fold line; and the facestock sheet being bendable back on the weakened fold line to thereby separate the liner sheet away from portions of the labels whereby the label portions can be individually grasped by a user and the labels individually peeled off of the liner sheet.
- 17. The construction of claim 16 wherein the weakened fold line is a die cut line through the facestock sheet but not the liner sheet.
- 18. The construction of claim 16 wherein the labels each have a burst configuration with alternating long and short points.
- 19. A label sheet construction, comprising:
a liner sheet; a facestock sheet adhered to the liner sheet; at least one first cut line through the facestock sheet but not the liner sheet to form a facestock sheet first label releasably adhered to the liner sheet; at least one second cut line through the facestock sheet but not the liner sheet to form a facestock sheet second label releasably adhered to the liner sheet; a weakened line segment in the facestock sheet and extending at least substantially between the first and second labels; and the facestock sheet being bendable back on the weakened line segment to thereby separate the liner sheet away from a portion of the first label whereby the label portion can be grasped by a user and the first label peeled off of the liner sheet.
- 20. The construction of claim 19 wherein the weakened line segment comprises a cut line through the facestock sheet to the liner sheet.
- 21. The construction of claim 20 wherein the cut line engages at opposite ends thereof the first and second cut lines, and the cut line and the first and second cut lines comprise a continuous die cut line.
- 22. The construction of claim 19 further comprising at least one third cut line through the facestock sheet but not the liner sheet to form a facestock sheet third label releasably adhered to the liner sheet, the first, second and third labels being aligned in a row on the facestock sheet, the weakened line segment defining a first segment, and a weakened line second segment extending between the second and third labels.
- 23. The construction of claim 22 wherein the first and second segments are in the same line, and when the facestock sheet is bent back on the first segment it is also bent back on the second segment to thereby separate the liner sheet away from a portion of the second label whereby the label portion of the second label can be grasped by a user and the second label peeled off of the liner sheet.
- 24. The construction of claim 19 wherein the first label has first and second parallel ends and the first line segment is parallel to and spaced between the parallel ends.
- 25. The construction of claim 19 further comprising a second weakened line segment which extends between the first label and an edge of the facestock sheet.
- 26. The construction of claim 19 wherein the first and second labels are both rectangularly shaped.
- 27. The construction of claim 19 wherein the first and second labels are both circularly shaped.
- 28. The construction of claim 19 wherein the facestock sheet includes a plurality of labels arranged in an array.
- 29. The construction of claim 19 further comprising the liner sheet having a release coating, and adhesive between the facestock sheet and the release coating.
- 30. A method of forming a printed label, comprising:
providing a liner sheet construction including a liner sheet and a facestock sheet adhered to the liner sheet, the facestock sheet being cut to form a label, and the facestock sheet having a weakened fold line; passing the liner sheet construction through a printer or copier and thereby printing indicia on the label; after the printing, folding the liner sheet construction along the weakened fold line and thereby separating a portion of the printed label off of the liner sheet; and after the folding, grasping the label portion and peeling the rest of the printed label off of the liner sheet.
- 31. The method of claim 30 wherein the weakened fold line defines a first weakened fold line, the facestock sheet includes a second weakened fold line, and the folding includes folding on the first and second weakened fold lines.
- 32. The method of claim 31 wherein the second weakened fold line is parallel to the first weakened fold line.
- 33. The method of claim 31 wherein the folding on the second weakened fold line separates an outer portion of the printed label portion from liner sheet.
- 34. The method of claim 30 wherein the weakened fold line includes a first cut line segment through the facestock sheet but not the liner sheet on one side of the label and a second cut line segment through the facestock sheet but not the liner sheet on an opposite side of the label.
- 35. The method of claim 30 wherein the label defines a first label, the facestock sheet is cut to define a second label, and the folding separates a portion of the second label from the liner sheet.
- 36. The method of claim 35 further comprising grasping the portion of the second label and peeling the second label off of the liner sheet.
- 37. The method of claim 35 wherein the printing includes printing indicia on the second label, and the peeling the second label is after the peeling the first label.
- 38. The method of claim 35 wherein the folding includes a first folding to separate the portion of the first label and a second folding to separate the portion of the second label, and the peeling the first label is after the first folding and before the second folding.
- 39. The method of claim 38 further comprising after the second folding, peeling the second label off of the liner sheet.
- 40. The method of claim 35 wherein the providing includes die cutting the facestock sheet to simultaneously form the label and the weakened fold line.
- 41. The method of claim 30 further comprising before the printing, custom designing the indicia on a personal computer.
- 42. A method of forming a label sheet construction, comprising:
providing a liner sheet construction including a liner sheet and a facestock sheet adhered to the liner sheet; cutting the facestock sheet to form a label; and forming a weakened fold line on the facestock sheet to facilitate removal of the label from the liner sheet.
- 43. The method of claim 42 wherein the cutting and weakened fold line forming are conducted in a die cut procedure.
