Claims
- 1. Lactoferrin hydrolyzate, obtained by hydrolyzing lactoferrin at a pH of from 1 to 4, such that said lactoferrin hydrolyzate has a decomposition rate of 6-20%.
- 2. The lactoferrin hydrolyzate of claim 1, wherein said hydrolyzing is conducted at a temperature of from 80.degree. to 130.degree. C.
- 3. The lactoferrin hydrolyzate of claim 2, wherein said heating for a length of time of from 1 to 120 minutes.
- 4. The lactoferrin hydrolyzate of claim 1, having antibacterial and tyrosinase inhibition activities.
- 5. Lactoferrin hydrolyzate, obtained by enzymatically hydrolyzing lactoferrin with an acidic enzyme at a pH of from 1 to 4, such that said lactoferrin hydrolyzate has a decomposition rate of 6-20%.
- 6. The lactoferrin hydrolyzate of claim 4, wherein said enzyme is swine pepsin.
- 7. The lactoferrin hydrolyzate of claim 4, wherein said hydrolyzing is conducted at a pH of from 2 to 3.
- 8. The lactoferrin hydrolyzate of claim 4, wherein said hydrolyzing is conducted at a temperature of from 15.degree. to 55.degree. C.
- 9. The lactoferrin hydrolyzate of claim 2, wherein said hydrolyzing is conducted for a length of time of from 30 to 600 minutes.
- 10. An antibacterial composition comprising the lactoferrin hydrolyzate of claim 1 in an excipient, medicine, cosmetic, food, feed or solution, said lactoferrin hydrolyzate being present in 25-1,000 parts per million,by weight of the composition.
- 11. An antibacterial composition comprising the lactoferrin hydrolyzate of claim 5 in an excipient, medicine, cosmetic, food, feed or solution, said lactoferrin hydrolyzate being present in 25-1,000 parts per million by weight of the composition.
