Claims
- 1. A flexible laminate system with at least one core comprising a fibrous layer configured with elongation in the MD at 50 pounds force per inch of web of less than 0.5 percent elongation, and at least one cover comprising a fabric layer with yarn spacing in at least one direction greater than 15 ends per inch, wherein the cover is bonded to the core with the cover MD axis at a bias angle with respect to the core MD.
- 2. A flexible laminate system according to claim 1, said bias angle being about 45 degrees respectively.
- 3. A flexible laminate system according to claim 1, said at least one cover comprising at least a first and a second covers, said first cover bias angle being about +60 degrees, said second cover bias angle being about −60 degrees.
- 4. A flexible laminate system according to claim 1, said at least one cover comprising at least a first, second and third cover, said first cover bias angle being about +22.5 degrees, said second cover bias angle being about −45 degrees, said third bias angle being about +67.5 degrees.
- 5. A flexible laminate system according to claim 1, said at least one cover comprising at least first, second, third, and fourth covers, said covers having respective bias angles of about +36 degrees, −36 degrees, +72 degrees, and −72 degrees.
- 6. A flexible laminate system according to claim 1, said at least one cover comprising multiple covers, wherein said covers are bonded to said core with respective cover MD's at different bias angles with respect to said core MD.
- 7. A flexible laminate system according to claim 1, said fibrous layer comprising a woven layer having less than 2 percent crimp in the MD.
- 8. A flexible laminate system according to claim 7, said woven layer having less than 50% of its available crossing points.
- 9. A flexible laminate system according to claim 1, further comprising a UV protective film layer external of said core and said cover.
- 10. A flexible laminate system with first and second woven layers, said first layer having less than 2% crimp in the MD, said second layer comprising at least one cover layer with yarn spacing in at least one direction of greater than 15 ends per inch, said first woven layer combined with said second woven layer wherein said first layer is bonded to said cover layer with the cover layer MD at a bias angle to the first layer MD.
- 11. A flexible laminate system according to claim 10, said second woven layer comprising multiple cover layers, said first layer combined with said second layer wherein said cover layers are bonded to said first layer with respective cover layer MDs at different bias angles with respect to said first layer MD.
- 12. A flexible laminate system according to claim 1, said first woven layer having elongation in the MD at 50 pounds force per inch of web of less than 0.5 percent.
- 13. A flexible laminate system according to claim 12, said first woven layer having less than 50% of its available crossing points.
- 14. A flexible laminate system with first and second woven layers, said first layer being a core layer that has less than 50% of its available crossing points, said second layer comprising a cover layer with yarn spacing in at least one direction of greater than 15 ends per inch, said cover layer bonded to said first layer with its cover layer MD at a bias angle to the first layer MD.
- 15. A flexible laminate system according to claim 14, said second woven layer comprising multiple cover layers, said first layer combined with said second layer wherein said cover layers are bonded to said first layer with respective cover layer MDs at different bias angles with respect to said first layer MD.
- 16. A flexible laminate system according to claim 14, said first woven layer having elongation in the MD at 50 pounds force per inch of web of less than 0.5 percent.
- 17. A flexible laminate system according to claim 16, said first woven layer having less than 2% crimp in the MD.
- 18. A flexible laminate system comprising a core and at least two covers of a common cover fabric,
said core comprising 1500 denier thermoplastic multifilament liquid crystal polymer yarn, core construction having up to 30 epi in the MD, with elongation in the MD of less than 0.25 percent at 10 lbf/inch, said core comprising thermoplastic mutlifilament liquid crystal polymer yarn and polyester yarn alternated in a modified weave pattern having at least 21 epi in the CM, with elongation in the CM of not more than 0.5 percent at 10 lbf/inch, total core crossing points comprising greater than 50 percent, said common cover fabric comprising 70 denier polyester yarn woven at 50×50 epi, with a resin coating, cut and formed with a 45 degree bias angle, a said cover applied to each side of said core, and an aliphatic urethane resin top coating applied to each said cover.
