Claims
- 1. A self-adhesive, multi-layer, laminated, bituminous roofing membrane, comprising a flexible base sheet having superposed on the entirety of at least one surface thereof a first coating layer of uniform thickness applied in direct face-to-face, mutually adhering contact therewith, said first coating layer consisting essentially of a substantially solid, waterproofing roofing bitumen; a second coating layer of uniform thickness surperposed on a portion of said first coating layer and having its inner surface in direct, face-to-face, mutually cohering contact with the outer surface of said portion of said first coating layer, said second coating layer being of lesser thickness than said first coating layer and consisting essentially of a compound bitumen, said compound bitumen consisting essentially of roofing bitumen containing from about 5 to 95 percent by weight of substance selected from the group consisting of rubber, thermoplastic resin and mixtures thereof, said compound bitumen being of high tackiness at ambient temperature and being self-adhesive to the second coating layer of another like roofing membrane; a flexible release sheet having a release substance in direct face-to-face releasably adhering contact with the entire outer surface of said coating layer, said release sheet being an exposed outer layer of said roofing membrane, said second layer having been adhered in a molten state to said portion of said first coating layer; and the remainder of said first coating layer being covered by a layer of mineral granules, a synthetic polymer film or a metal foil directly adhered to the remainder of said first coating layer.
- 2. A roofing membrane as claimed in claim 1 wherein the remainder of said first coating layer is covered by a layer of mineral granules.
- 3. A roofing membrane as claimed in claim 1 wherein said base sheet has said first coating layers applied on the entireties of both surfaces thereof, portions of both of said first coating layers are covered by said second coating layers and the remainders of both of said first coating layers are covered by layers of mineral granules.
- 4. A roofing membrane as claimed in claim 1 in which the remainder of said first coating layer is adhered to and is covered by a synthetic polymer film or a metal foil.
- 5. A roofing membrane as claimed in claim 1 wherein said base sheet consists essentially of fibrous material completely impregnated with roofing bitumen.
- 6. A roofing membrane as claimed in claim 1 in the form of a coil.
- 7. A roofing membrane as claimed in claim 1 in which said first coating layer has a thickness of 2 to 3 mm and said second coating layer has a thickness of 0.3 to 0.5 mm.
- 8. A roofing membrane as claimed in claim 1, wherein said base sheet is a film of synthetic polymer or a metal foil.
- 9. A roofing membrane as claimed in claim 1, wherein said rubber in said compound bitumen is a vulcanized or non-vulcanized rubber selected from the group consisting of natural rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber, acrylonitrile butadiene rubber, chloroprene rubber, butadiene rubber, isoprene rubber, butyl rubber, ethylene-propylene rubber, ethylene-propylene diene mar, polyisobutylene, chlorinated polyethylene, mixtures thereof, and reclaimed rubbers thereof.
- 10. A roofing membrane as claimed in claim 9, wherein said resin in the compound bitumen is natural or synthetic resin selected from the group consisting of rosin and its derivatives, tall oil, cumarone-indene resin, petroleum resin, and polyolefin.
- 11. A roofing membrane as claimed in claim 10, wherein said compound bitumen further contains up to 50 weight percent animal or vegetable oil, fat or derivatives.
- 12. A roofing membrane as claimed in claim 1, wherein said release sheet is coated with a resin having high releasing property selected from the group consisting of silicone resin, fluorine-containing resin or polyvinylidene chloride.
- 13. A roofing membrane as claimed in claim 12, wherein said release sheet is cellophane, polyvinyl alcohol film or aluminum foil.
- 14. A roofing membrane as claimed in claim 1, wherein said release sheet has a corrugated or creped form so as to be longitudinally extensible.
- 15. A roofing membrane as claimed in claim 1, wherein said release sheet is provided with single or plural rows of perforations of notches, or cut lines along the lengthwise direction of the multi-layer laminated bituminous roofing membrane.
