Claims
- 1. A landscaping tile system comprising:
a landscaping tile having a bottom surface, a decorative top surface simulating a plurality of densely packed rocks evenly distributed over an area, said decorative top surface being spaced apart from said bottom surface and said decorative top surface being superimposed upon said bottom surface when said landscaping tile is viewed in plan view, and a plurality of sides extending between said decorative top surface and said bottom surface, said plurality of sides laterally bounding said landscaping tile when said landscaping tile is viewed in plan view; and a plurality of stakes securing said landscaping tile to a supporting surface, said landscaping tile being made of a flexible material such that when said landscaping tile is placed upon a supporting surface having a topography, said landscaping tile will conform to the topography of the supporting surface.
- 2. The landscaping tile system according to claim 1, wherein said landscaping tile has a plurality of counter-sunk holes for allowing said plurality of stakes to extend through said landscaping tile, the landscaping tile system further including a plurality of decorative caps adapted to cover said plurality of counter-sunk holes, said plurality of decorative caps matching said decorative top surface in appearance.
- 3. The landscaping tile system according to claim 1, wherein said landscaping tile is made a material selected from the group consisting of foam rubber, silicone rubber, and polyvinyl chloride.
- 4. The landscaping tile system according to claim 1, wherein said landscaping tile is made in one piece.
- 5. The landscaping tile system according to claim 1, wherein said landscaping tile is made from multiple layers including a top layer, with said top layer having said decorative top surface formed thereon.
- 6. The landscaping tile system according to claim 1, wherein said landscaping tile has a spongiform interior covered by a solid skin.
- 7. A landscaping tile comprising:
a bottom surface; a decorative top surface simulating a plurality of densely packed rocks evenly distributed over an area, said decorative top surface being spaced apart from said bottom surface and said decorative top surface being superimposed upon said bottom surface when the landscaping tile is viewed in plan view; and a plurality of sides extending between said decorative top surface and said bottom surface, said plurality of sides laterally bounding the landscaping tile when the landscaping tile is viewed in plan view, the landscaping tile being made of a flexible material such that when the landscaping tile is placed upon a supporting surface having a topography, the landscaping tile will conform to the topography of the supporting surface.
- 8. The landscaping tile according to claim 7, wherein the landscaping tile has a plurality of counter-sunk holes adapted for allowing a plurality of stakes to extend through the landscaping tile in order to secure the landscaping tile to the supporting surface, the landscaping tile further including a plurality of decorative caps adapted to cover said plurality of counter-sunk holes, said plurality of decorative caps matching said decorative top surface in appearance.
- 9. The landscaping tile according to claim 7, wherein the landscaping tile is made of a material selected from the group consisting of foam rubber, silicone rubber and polyvinyl chloride.
- 10. The landscaping tile according to claim 7, wherein the landscaping tile is made in one piece.
- 11. The landscaping tile according to claim 7, wherein the landscaping tile is made from multiple layers including a top layer, with said top layer having said decorative top surface formed thereon.
- 12. The landscaping tile according to claim 7, wherein the landscaping tile has a spongiform interior covered by a solid skin.
- 13. The landscaping tile according to claim 7, wherein said plurality of densely packed rocks simulated by said decorative top surface appear to include rocks which are piled atop other rocks.
- 14. A landscaping tile system for covering a landscape, comprising:
a) a plurality of landscaping tiles, each tile being a one-piece rectangular sheet having:
i) a decorative top surface simulating a plurality of densely packed rocks evenly distributed over an area; ii) a flat, planar border disposed about the periphery of the rectangular sheet, said decorative top surface being centrally disposed within said border; and iii) a bottom surface underlying said decorative top surface, the bottom surface being noncoplanar with said border and raised above said border in a substantially dome-shaped fashion; and b) a plurality of stakes, each stake having a head, a shaft and a pointed tip end, the stakes securing said landscaping tiles to a supporting surface.
- 15. The landscaping tile system according to claim 14, where said border has a plurality of holes defined therein sized and dimensioned for receiving the shaft of said stakes used to secure the landscaping tile to a landscape.
- 16. The landscaping tile system according to claim 14, further comprising a plurality of decorative caps, each decorative cap being attached to a pair of said landscaping tiles placed adjacent to each other with said borders overlapping and secured to a landscape by said plurality of stakes, the decorative caps covering the overlapping borders and the heads of the stakes between adjoining landscaping tiles and blending the top surfaces of the pair of adjacent landscaping tiles.
- 17. The landscaping tile system according to claim 14, wherein said landscaping tiles are made of a material selected from the group consisting of foam rubber, silicone rubber and polyvinyl chloride.
- 18. The landscaping tile system according to claim 14, further comprising a rectangular frame having a central rectangular opening defined therein, the frame being placed over said landscaping tile with the frame overlapping the border of said landscaping tile said plurality of spikes being driven through the frame in order to secure said landscaping tile to a supporting surface.
- 19. The landscaping tile system according to claim 18, wherein said frame has a plurality of preformed holes defined therein, said plurality of spikes being driven through said plurality of preformed holes.
- 20. The landscaping tile system according to claim 18, wherein said frame has a recess defined therein about the rectangular opening, the recess being sized and dimensioned for receiving the border of said landscaping tile in order to prevent said landscaping tile from shifting position when impacted by a shearing force.
