Abstract
A grip surface placed on top of a lap, or on top of a surface that is on-top of a lap such as a pillow or pillow like device, for the purposes of easier eating, working, studying, playing, therapy and leisuring. Bring your table anywhere with The Lap Mat. Get up to 90 degrees of grip anywhere. Made typically of silicone, The Lap Mat helps to keep your everyday items in place, where you need them.
Description
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION

Too many times we have spills and crumbs that get into the corners and seams of fabrics or hot pads used to unsteadily hold items on our laps. We even try to work on our laps, in bed and anywhere other than the desk or table but it is always a hassle. Things slipping away, backs hurting from sitting too forward on the couch . . . enough is enough. This makes eating and working at the couch, bed, floor or chair a chore rather than something that makes life easier and more comfortable.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION

A grip surface added on top of a lap, or on top of a surface that is on-top of a lap such as a pillow or pillow like device, for the purposes of easier eating, working, studying, playing, therapy and leisuring. Bring your table anywhere with The Lap Mat.

Keep your pillow and lap top items where they belong. Strong and unique grip designs made to stop plates, laptops, toys, notes, books, ipads and phones and many other objects from slipping away onto you, the floor, the bed, your car seat, couch or any other area you are trying to protect by using your The Lap Mat.

A secure, ergonomic and easy to clean grip designed surface that ensures plates, phones, bowls, laptops, books and many other objects do not move while also giving the customer ‘spill relief’ by way of its raised outer edges to stop crumbs, liquids or other objects from getting on the pillow fabrics, clothing, bedding or anything else the The Lap Mat is on. Not for kitchen use.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The Lap Mat is made with silicone that is heat and cold resistant. The silicone is safe to eat off of. The silicone can be hand washed or washed in a dish washing machine. The silicone for the The Lap Mat can be either poured, pressed, injected or any other way to achieve the desired shape after the initial mold is created. The silicone is heat resistant but is not meant for any kitchen use such as a pot holder, cover or the like.

The outer edges of the mat are rounded, though can be square, angled or any other shape based on the need of the mat.

The inner grip ripple shapes are flat at the top to make for easier holding of flat objects which are layered on top of the mat. The inner grip ripple shapes should be about 0.18 inches tall so that the mat is not too heavy. The inner grips of The Lap Mats include

The bottom of the mat is flat, or mostly flat, so it can adhere to any surface evenly with ease.

The thickness of the bottom of the mats lowest level should be about 0.058 inches.

There are a variety of options for the lap mat that include mats being non-permanently affixed, semi-permanently affixed and permanently affixed to laps, lap laying materials or devices such as pillows, pillow like devices and blankets.
