Claims
- 1. A method of providing two-cycle write operation to a content addressable memory (CAM) comprising an array of core cells for data storing, the method comprising the steps of:
- performing a search operation during the first cycle, to determine whether the data to be written already exists in the CAM;
- aborting the write operation if the data is found to already exist; and
- performing a write operation during the second cycle, if it is allowed to complete.
