Claims
- 1. A cattle roping lariat rope body having a critical length portion beginning at a honda end of the rope body that is at least about 68 percent of the total length of the rope body and a non-critical length portion in the remainder of the length of the rope body, the critical length portion being that portion of the rope body which will be formed into a lariat loop and the throwing portion of the rope body the rope body comprising:
- a) a core in a center portion of a cross section of only the critical length portion and extending the full length thereof, the core comprising cabled monofilament yarns with the total denier of the monofilaments in the core being at least about 30,000,
- b) three or more twisted strands wound around the core in the critical length portion and twisted around each other in the non-critical length portion to form a rope structure, each strand containing twisted monofilament yarns throughout its cross section, and
- c) a wax among at least some of the monofilaments in at least some of the yarns.
- 2. The lariat rope body of claim 1 wherein the critical length portion is at least 90 percent of the total length of the rope body.
- 3. The lariat rope body of claim 2 wherein there are four strands twisted around the core.
- 4. The lariat rope body of claim 3 wherein the majority of the monofilaments in the strands and are nylon material.
- 5. The lariat rope body of claim 3 wherein the majority of the monofilaments in the strands and in the core are nylon material.
- 6. The lariat rope body of claim 1 wherein the core is comprised of monofilament yarns containing monofilaments of a material selected from a group consisting of nylon, DACRON.TM., polyester, polypropylene, and polyethylene, the monofilaments in the core having a total denier of about 40,000 to about 50,000, and wherein the strands are comprised of yarns of monofilaments of a material selected from a group consisting of nylon, DACRON.TM., polyester, polypropylene, and polyethylene yarns, the total denier of the monofilaments in each of said strands being in the range of about 85,000 to about 95,000.
- 7. The lariat rope body of claim 6 wherein the majority of the monofilaments in the strands are nylon material.
- 8. The lariat rope body of claim 6 wherein the majority of the monofilaments in the strands and in the core are nylon material.
- 9. The rope body of claim 6 wherein the rope body comprises four strands, the total denier of each strand is in the range of about 84,000 to about 95,000, and the total denier of the monofilament yarns in the rope body are in the range of about 408,000.+-.1000 to about 415,500.+-.1000.
- 10. The rope body of claim 9 wherein there are one or more splices in one or more of the monofilament yarns in the core.
- 11. The rope body of claim 9 wherein the majority of the monofilaments in the strands are polyester or DACRON.TM..
- 12. The rope body of claim 9 wherein the majority of the monofilaments in the core and each of the strands are nylon, the total denier of the monofilaments in the rope body are about 408,000.+-.1000.
- 13. The rope body of claim 9 wherein the nylon is nylon 6, the total denier of the monofilaments in the core is about 45,000 .+-.500 and the core contains six yarns.
- 14. The lariat rope body of claim 1 wherein there are four strands twisted around the core.
- 15. The lariat rope body of claim 14 wherein the majority of the monofilaments in the strands are nylon material.
- 16. The lariat rope body of claim 14 wherein the majority of the monofilaments in the core and in the strands are nylon material.
- 17. The rope body of claim 14 wherein the majority of the monofilaments in the core and each of the strands are nylon, the total denier of the monofilaments in the rope body are within the range of about 302,000 to about 424,006.
- 18. The rope body of claim 17 wherein the nylon is nylon 66, each strand contains twelve yarns and the total denier of the monofilaments in each strand is about 90,500.+-.500.
- 19. The rope body of claim 1 wherein there is one or more splices in one or more of the monofilament yarns in the core.
