Claims
- 1. A carrier for laser capture microdissection analysis comprising:
- a substrate, said substrate structured and configured to matingly engage a laser capture microdissection analysis vessel; and
- a laser capture microdissection transfer film mounted on said substrate.
- 2. The carrier of claim 1 wherein said substrate is transparent at least in a region where said laser capture microdissection transfer film mounted thereon.
- 3. The carrier of claim 1 wherein said substrate comprises a plastic material.
- 4. The carrier of claim 1 wherein said substrate is adapted to mate with an analysis vessel.
- 5. The carrier of claim 1 wherein said substrate is adapted to mate with a holder in an laser capture microdissection tissue sample transfer apparatus.
- 6. The carrier of claim 1 wherein said substrate is a transparent disk and said laser capture microdissection transfer film is mounted on a flat surface thereof.
- 7. The carrier of claim 1 wherein said substrate is a plug and said laser capture microdissection transfer film is mounted on the surface thereof.
- 8. A laser capture microdissection assembly comprising:
- a holder having a plurality of indexed positions thereon;
- a plurality of carriers for laser capture microdissection analysis, each said carrier comprising a substrate and a laser capture microdissection transfer film mounted on said substrate; and
- one of said carriers disposed at each said index position in said holder, said indexed positions configured to precisely locate the position of each said substrate relative to an element of a laser capture microdissection tissue transfer apparatus.
- 9. A laser capture microdissection assembly comprising:
- a holder having a plurality of indeed positions thereon, said holder comprising a strip having a plurality of holes at said indexed positions;
- a plurality of carriers for laser capture microdissection analysis, each said carrier comprising a substrate and a laser capture microdissection transfer film mounted on said substrate; and
- one of said carriers disposed in each hole at each said indexed position in said holder, said indexed positions configured to precisely locate the position of each said substrate relative to an element of laser capture microdissection tissue transfer apparatus.
- 10. A method for transferring cells from a tissue sample to a laser capture microdissection analysis vessel, comprising the steps of:
- providing a substrate having a laser capture microdissection transfer film mounted thereon;
- placing said substrate over said tissue sample such that said laser capture microdissection transfer film is positioned adjacent said tissue sample;
- exposing a selected region of said tissue sample to a laser pulse;
- transferring cells from said selected region of said tissue sample to said laser capture microdissection transfer film; and
- matingly engaging said substrate with said laser capture microdissection analysis vessel such that said laser capture microdissection transfer film, with said transferred cells thereon, is positioned within said laser capture microdissection analysis vessel.
- 11. A method as recited in claim 9, wherein said substrate in said providing step comprises a transparent disk and said laser capture microdissection transfer film is mounted on a flat surface thereof.
