Claims
- 1. A lasing element of a laser device wherein said element comprises a crystal element having a matte surface finish of greater than about 30 microinch upon only part of said crystal element, while the remaining surface of said crystal element has a finish of less than 30 microinch.
- 2. The lasing element of claim 1 wherein said matte surface finish is at least about 50 microinch.
- 3. The lasing element of claim 1 wherein said matte surface finish is present as at least one ring around the circumference of the element.
- 4. The lasing element of claim 3 wherein said matte surface finish is present upon the circumference of the element along at least about one half of its length.
- 5. The lasing element of claim 1 wherein said matte surface finish is present along the full length of the rod in stripes parallel to the longitudinal axis.
- 6. A laser device comprising
a) a lasing element; b) a power source; c) a high voltage pulse-forming network linked to said power source; d) a means for exciting the lasing element by emitting an exciting light, linked to said pulse-forming network; e) a laser cavity; f) a focusing means which focuses the beam from said lasing element; and g) a cover surrounding said lasing element comprising a material which is transparent to the exciting light but has an index of refraction greater than said lasing element.
- 7. A laser device comprising
a) a lasing element; b) a laser head assembly housing wherein the lasing element is non-rigidly mounted within said laser head assembly housing; c) a power source; d) a high voltage pulse-forming network linked to said power source; e) a means for exciting the lasing element, linked to said pulse-forming netowrk; f) a laser cavity; and g) a focusing means which focuses the beam from said lasing element.
- 8. The device of claim 7 wherein said lasing element is supported by an elastomeric material.
- 9. The device of claim 8 wherein said elastomeric material is in a slot located at the high reflectance end of said lasing element.
- 10. The device of claim 8 wherein said elastomeric material is an O-ring.
- 11. The device of claim 10 wherein said lasing element is concentrically received by said O-ring.
