The disclosure relates to jacket devices and more particularly pertains to a new jacket device for facilitating a tool vest worn beneath a jacket to be accessible. The device includes a jacket that has a pair of slots extending between a top closure and a bottom closure such that the pair of slots defines an opening in the jacket when the top closure and the bottom closure are closed to facilitate a tool vest worn beneath the jacket to be accessible through the opening.
The prior art relates to jacket devices including a variety of jacket devices that each has removable panels for facilitating clothing worn beneath the jacket to be accessible and a jacket device that has a plurality of closures. In no instance does the prior art disclose a jacket device that has pair of slots extending between a pair of closures such that the pair of slots defines an opening when the closures are closed to facilitate a tool vest worn beneath the jacket to be accessible.
An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a jacket that has a body and a pair of sleeves such that the jacket can be worn by a law enforcement officer. The jacket has a pair of closures each integrated into the body for opening and closing the body. The jacket has a pair of slots each integrated into the body such that the pair of slots defines an opening when the body is closed with the pair of closures. In this way the opening facilitates a tool vest worn beneath the jacket to be accessible to the law enforcement officer while the law enforcement officer is wearing the jacket.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
As best illustrated in
The body 14 has a first front panel 28, a second front panel 30, a neck 32 and a waist 34 and the first front panel 28 has a first lateral edge 36 extending between the neck 32 and the waist 34. The first lateral edge 36 has a lower vertical portion 38 extending upwardly from the waist 34 and an upper vertical portion 40 extending downwardly from the neck 32. Additionally, the first lateral edge 36 has an upper horizontal portion 42 that is perpendicularly oriented with the upper vertical portion 40 and a lower horizontal portion 44 that is perpendicularly oriented with the lower vertical portion 38. The first lateral edge 36 has a first sidelong portion 46 extending between the lower horizontal portion 44 and the upper horizontal portion 42. Additionally, the first sidelong portion 46 is oriented parallel to each of the upper vertical portion 40 and the lower vertical portion 38 and each of the upper horizontal portion 42 and the lower horizontal portion 44 extends toward a right one of the pair of sleeves 48.
The second front panel 30 has a second lateral edge 50 extending between the neck 32 and the waist 34. Additionally, the second lateral edge 50 has a bottom vertical portion 52 extending upwardly from the waist 34 and a top vertical portion 54 extending downwardly from the neck 32. The second lateral edge 50 has a top horizontal portion 56 that is perpendicularly oriented with the top vertical portion 54 and a bottom horizontal portion 58 that is perpendicularly oriented with the bottom vertical portion 52. The second lateral edge 50 has a second sidelong portion 60 extending between the bottom horizontal portion 58 and the top horizontal portion 56 and the second sidelong portion 60 is oriented parallel to each of the top vertical portion 54 and the bottom vertical portion 52. Additionally, each of the top horizontal portion 56 and the bottom horizontal portion 58 extends toward a left one of the pair of sleeves 62.
The pair of closures 18 includes a top closure 64 and a bottom closure 66. The top closure 64 includes a first half that 68 is attached to the upper vertical portion 40 of the first lateral edge 36. Continuing, the top closure 64 includes a second half 70 that is attached to the top vertical portion 54 of the second lateral edge 50. The first half 68 is matable to the second half 70 to close the neck 32 around a neck 72 of the law enforcement officer 17. The bottom closure 66 includes a primary half 74 that is attached to the lower vertical portion 38 of the first lateral edge 36. Additionally, the bottom closure 66 includes a secondary half 76 that is attached to the bottom vertical portion 52 of the second lateral edge 50. The primary half 74 is matable to the secondary half 76 to close the waist 34 around the law enforcement officer's waist 78. Each of the top closure 64 and the bottom closure 66 may comprise a zipper or other type of releasable, mechanical closures.
A first elastomeric band 80 is provided and the first elastomeric band 80 is integrated into the jacket 12. The first elastomeric band 80 extends along the first sidelong portion 46 of the first lateral edge 36 of the first front panel 28. In this way the first elastomeric band 80 biases the first sidelong portion 46 to compress against the tool vest 24 thereby inhibiting air from passing between the jacket 12 and the tool vest 24. A second elastomeric band 82 is provided and the second elastomeric band 82 is integrated into the jacket 12. The second elastomeric band 82 extends along the second sidelong portion 60 of the second lateral edge 50 of the second front panel 30. In this way the second elastomeric band 82 can bias the second sidelong portion 60 to compress against the tool vest 24 thereby inhibiting air from passing between the jacket 12 and the tool vest 24. As is shown in
In use, the jacket 12 is worn over the tool vest 24 and each of the top closure 64 and the bottom closure 66 are manipulated to close the jacket 12 around the law enforcement officer 17. Furthermore, the opening 22 defined in the jacket 12 facilitates tools 26 stored in the tool vest 24 to be exposed and accessible to the law enforcement officer 17 while the jacket 12 is being worn. In this way the law enforcement officer 17 does not need to open the jacket 12 to access the tools 26 stored in the tool vest 24 thereby facilitating the law enforcement officer 17 to stay warm while wearing the jacket 12. Additionally, each of the first elastomeric band 80 and the second elastomeric band 82 bias the jacket 12 to compress against the tool vest 24 thereby inhibiting air from passing between the jacket 12 and the tool vest 24.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, device and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
