Claims
- 1. A system for coupling a lead having a lead body and a lead connector to a medical device connector block, comprising:
a coupling member to couple to the lead body; and connector means for allowing the lead connector to electrically couple to the medical device connector block.
- 2. The system of claim 1, wherein the lead connector is a uni-polar lead connector having a connector pin, and wherein the connector means includes positioning means for positioning the connector pin so that the connector pin may be electrically coupled to the medical device connector block.
- 3. The system of claim 1, wherein the lead connector is a bi-polar lead connector having a connector pin and a connector ring, and wherein the connector means includes conductive ring means for electrically coupling the connector ring to the medical device connector block.
- 4. The system of claim 3, wherein the connector means includes positioning means for positioning the connector pin so that the connector pin may be electrically coupled to the medical device connector block.
- 5. The system of claim 1, wherein the coupling means includes at least one set of exterior sealing members to sealingly engage the medical device connector block.
- 6. The system of claim 1, wherein the coupling means includes at least one set of interior sealing members to sealingly engage the lead body.
- 7. The system of claim 1, and further including insertion means for coupling the lead body to the coupling member.
- 8. The system of claim 7, wherein the coupling member includes an inner lumen, and wherein the insertion means includes an elongated member adapted to pull the lead body into the inner lumen of the coupling member.
- 9. The system of claim 8, wherein the coupling member includes means for fixedly engaging the lead body.
- 10. The system of claim 7, wherein the coupling member includes an inner lumen, and wherein the insertion means includes a tubular member adapted to be inserted within the inner lumen, and to enable the lead body to be slid into the inner lumen of the coupling member.
- 11. The system of claim 3, wherein the conductive ring means is a multi-beam connector.
- 12. The system of claim 3, wherein the conductive ring means is a two-part connector means.
- 13. The system of claim 3, wherein the connector means includes a deformable spring.
- 14. The system of claim 1, wherein the medical device connector block includes two connectors, and wherein the coupling member is bifurcated to allow the lead connector to couple to both of the two connectors at once.
- 15. The system of claim 1, wherein the coupling member including affixation means to rigidly couple the coupling member to the lead body.
- 16. A method of attaching a medical lead having a body and a connector to a medical device, comprising the methods of:
coupling the body of the lead to a sleeve member; and utilizing the sleeve member to coupling the connector of the lead to the medical device.
