Claims
- 1. A lens-fitted photographic film unit having a preloaded photographic film which is advanced frame by frame upon a film advancing operation being performed by a film advancing member, said film unit comprising:
- a flash device for emitting a flash of light toward an object in synchronism with an exposure of said photographic film; and
- switching means actuated by said film advancing operation to cause said flash device to be in an on-state in which said flash of light can be emitted.
- 2. A lens-fitted photographic film unit as recited in claim 1, wherein said flash device includes:
- a dry cell battery;
- a DC-DC converter for boosting a first voltage of said battery to a second voltage, said second voltage being substantially higher than said first voltage;
- a main capacitor for storing electrical energy when said second voltage is applied thereto;
- a flash discharge tube supplied with said electrical energy of said main capacitor for emitting said flash of light, when said flash discharge tube is triggered; and
- trigger means for triggering said flash discharge tube.
- 3. A lens-fitted photographic film unit as recited in claim 2, wherein said switching means is connected to said DC-DC converter to be in an on-state by said film advancing operation.
- 4. A lens-fitted photographic film unit as recited in claim 3, wherein said DC-DC converter includes an oscillating transistor, a transformer having a primary coil and a secondary coil, and a diode, said primary coil being serially connected to said oscillating transistor and to said battery, and said secondary coil being connected to said main capacitor via said diode.
- 5. A lens-fitted photographic film unit as recited in claim 4, wherein said switching means includes:
- a cam provided on said film advancing member;
- a charge starting switch to be switched by said cam upon movement of said film advancing member; and
- a self-maintaining circuit for keeping said DC-DC converter in the on-state after said charge starting switch is first actuated.
- 6. A lens-fitted photographic film unit as recited in claim 5, wherein said self-maintaining circuit is connected to a base of said oscillating transistor.
- 7. A lens-fitted photographic film unit as recited in claim 5, wherein said cam is triangular.
- 8. A lens-fitted photographic film unit as recited in claim 4, further comprising a shutter device which is set in a cocked condition by said film advancing operation, said switching means being actuated when said shutter device is in said cocked condition, thereby keeping said DC-DC converter in the on-state during the time when said shutter device is in the cocked condition.
- 9. A lens-fitted photographic film unit as recited in claim 8, wherein said switching means is connected to a base of said oscillating transistor.
- 10. A camera comprising:
- a film advancing member operable from the outside of said camera;
- a cam on said film advancing member;
- a flash device for emitting a flash of light toward an object; and a charge starting switch that is turned on by said cam, charging of said flash device being started when said charge starting switch is turned on.
- 11. A camera as recited in claim 10, further comprising a preloaded photographic film.
- 12. A lens-fitted photographic film unit having a preloaded photographic film, a film advancing member for advancing said photographic film frame by frame, a shutter device which is set from an uncocked condition to a cocked condition by operation of said film advancing member, a flash device for emitting a flash of light in synchronism with an opening movement of said shutter device, said film unit further comprising:
- a changeover member disposed in a first position when said shutter device is in said uncocked condition and being shifted to a second position when said shutter device is in the cocked condition; and
- a charge switch for setting said flash device to be in an on-state or an off-state, said charge switch putting said flash device into said off-state when said changeover member is in the first position and putting said flash device into said on-state when said changeover member is in the second position, whereby said flash device is charged for emitting said flash of light when said shutter device is in the cocked condition.
- 13. A lens-fitted photographic film unit as recited in claim 12, wherein said changeover member comprises a shutter actuating member that is shifted from an uncocked position to a cocked position when said photographic film is advanced, and said shutter device includes:
- a spring biasing said shutter actuating member toward said uncocked position;
- a member for locking said shutter actuating member in said uncocked position;
- a shutter release button for actuating said locking member to free said shutter actuating member; and
- a shutter blade for exposing said photographic film upon being swung when said shutter actuating member is shifted from the cocked position to the uncocked position.
