Claims
- 1. A camera having a photographing zoom lens movable into a completely collapsed lens position rearwardly of an extreme wide angle lens position, said lens being supported by an exterior frame having a central photographic aperture and at least one barrier for selectively opening and closing said central aperture, said camera comprising means for closing said aperture with each said barrier in association with movement said lens into with each said barrier in association with movement said lens into said collapsed lens position, and means for opening said aperture in all other lens positions, wherein said at least one barrier is opened and closed by movement of said lens.
- 2. A camera in accordance with claim 1, further comprising a driving motor for driving said zoom lens into said collapsed lens position.
- 3. A camera in accordance with claim 1, wherein each said barrier is positioned along a front portion of said frame, each said barrier comprising a rotatable plate, said camera further comprising driving arms attached to said plates, and a wire spring for biasing said plates into a normally open position.
- 4. A camera in accordance with claim 1, further comprising means for closing each said barrier plate by moving a depressible member on said frame radially inwardly after said lens has moved into said completely collapsed position.
- 5. A camera in accordance with claim 1, wherein said aperture closing means comprises means for closing said aperture whenever said zoom lens is moved into said collapsed lens position from any non-collapsed lens position.
- 6. A lens shutter type of camera having a zoom photographic lens movable by a driving motor into a completely collapsed lens position located rearwardly of an extreme wide angle lens position, said lens being supported by an exterior frame having a central photographic aperture, said camera including at least one barrier for selectively opening and closing said central aperture, said camera comprising means for moving said lens into said collapsed lens position from a non-collapsed position of said lens and means for closing said aperture in association with lens movement when said lens is so moved, wherein said at least one barrier is moved to open and close said aperture by movement of said lens.
- 7. A camera in accordance with claim 6, wherein said barrier is moved to close said aperture by a radially inwardly movable pin positioned within a lens support frame.
- 8. A camera in accordance with claim 7, further comprising means for moving said pin radially inwardly only when said lens is in its fully collapsed position.
- 9. In a camera including a lens having a light admitting photographic aperture and means for moving said lens between operative and inoperative positions along a lens optical axis, a pair of movable barrier members, means for moving said barrier members between positions opening and closing said aperture, and a mechanism automatically moving said barrier members to and from said closing position as said lens moves into and out of said inoperative position, said mechanism transmitting movement of said lens to and from said inoperative position to a single translatable member to operative said barrier moving means to move both said barriers to and from said closed position.
- 10. A camera as in claim 9, wherein said lens moving means comprises a motor.
- 11. A camera in accordance with claim 9 and further including means for biasing said barrier members to said opened position, said mechanism overcoming the force of said biasing means to move said barrier members into said closed position.
- 12. A camera in accordance with claim 11, wherein said biasing means comprises a single wire spring operating against movement of both said barrier members.
- 13. In a camera in accordance with claim 11, wherein said barrier members are each rotatably mounted for movement between said opened and closed positions, each barrier member being coupled to a drive arm, each drive arm having a resilient portion comprising said biasing means.
- 14. In a camera in accordance with claim 9, wherein said lens is a zoom lens having relatively wide angle and telephoto focal length positions, said inoperative position of said lens comprising a position rearwardly located with respect to the wide angle lens position.
- 15. A camera in accordance with claim 9 wherein said translatable member comprises a radially inwardly movable pin positioned within a lens support frame.
- 16. A camera in accordance with claim 15, wherein said pin is positioned to actuate both said barrier members simultaneously.
