Claims
- 1. A lens cap opening and closing mechanism adapted to be used with a lens support frame having an outer periphery, a central aperture, and a pair of barrier plates, said pair of barrier plates selectively closing said central aperture, said mechanism comprising a movable member positioned in a peripheral opening of said frame, said movable member being engaged with said pair of barrier plates, and means for selectively moving said movable member inwardly of said frame to close said aperture with said pair of barrier plates.
- 2. A mechanism in accordance with claim 1, wherein said frame is cylindrical and said member is radially movable within said peripheral frame opening.
- 3. A mechanism in accordance with claim 2, further comprising a pivotable lever located on the exterior of said frame, said pivotable lever having a free end which is normally located adjacent to one end of said movable member.
- 4. A mechanism in accordance with claim 3, further comprising a projection along the interior of a rotatable lens barrel comprising means for pivoting said lever to force said movable member radially inwardly of said frame and for thereby closing said central aperture with each said barrier plate.
- 5. A mechanism in accordance with claim 4, wherein said lens barrel is manually rotatable.
- 6. A mechanism in accordance with claim 4, wherein said lens barrel is rotatable by a motor.
- 7. A camera in accordance with claim 3, further comprising a projection on the interior of a rotatable cam ring, said projection comprising means for pivoting said lever to force said movable member radially inwardly to thereby close said central aperture with each said barrier plate.
- 8. A camera in accordance with claim 3, wherein said at least one barrier plate comprises two barrier plates, wherein said lens frame includes a front portion, and wherein said barrier plates are positioned inside of said frame directly behind said front frame aperture, with an annular securement plate positioned behind said barriers.
- 9. A camera in accordance with claim 3, wherein said movable member engages said barrier plates via two resilient Y-shaped drive arms which have forked ends which receive pins attached to said barrier plates.
- 10. A camera in accordance with claim 3, wherein said movable member engages said barrier plates via two driving arms which have free ends abutting pins on respective barrier plates, wherein when said movable member is moved radially inwardly of said frame said member comprises means for overcoming the biasing force applied to said barrier plates by a single spring wire.
- 11. A lens cap opening and closing mechanism for use within a lens supporting frame having an outer periphery and an optical axis, a central aperture, and two barrier plates for selectively opening and closing said central aperture, said mechanism comprising two movable members each engaging one of said barrier plates and a single, flanged member mounted for radial movement relative to the lens frame optical axis, said flanged member simultaneously acting on both of said movable members.
- 12. A lens cap opening and closing mechanism in accordance with claim 11 and further comprising means biasing said barrier members to open said central aperture.
- 13. A mechanism in accordance with claim 12, wherein said biasing means comprises a single wire spring bearing against both of said movable members.
- 14. A mechanism in accordance with claim 12, said biasing means comprising a resilient spring arm formed on each said movable member.
- 15. A mechanism in accordance with claim 11, further comprising a movably mounted lens support frame, said flanged member moving radially to close said barrier plates responsive to movement of said lens support frame.
- 16. A mechanism in accordance with claim 15, further comprising motor for moving said lens support frame.
- 17. A mechanism in accordance with claim 15, wherein said lens support frame is manually movable.
- 18. A mechanism in accordance with claim 11, said movable members comprising resilient Y-shaped drive arms including forked ends which receive pins attached to said barrier plates.
- 19. A lens cap opening and closing mechanism according to claim 1, wherein said movable member is positioned outside of a hole formed in said lens support frame outer periphery, said moving means comprising means for moving said movable member through said hole to close said central aperture with said pair of barrier plates.
- 20. A lens cap opening and closing mechanism adapted to be used with a lens support frame having an outer periphery, a central aperture, and at least one barrier plate for selectively closing said central aperture, said at least one barrier plate mounted for movement in a direction substantially parallel to the plane of said central aperture to selectively close said central aperture, said mechanism comprising a movable member positioned in a peripheral opening of said frame, said member being engaged with said at least one barrier plate, and means for selectively moving said member inwardly of said frame to close said aperture with said at least one barrier plate.
