Claims
- 1. A lift arm assembly having a forward end and a rearward end for use with a jack stand power unit and a lift bridge, with the power unit including a generally rectangular chassis having a forward end and a rearward end, and a lifting means mounted on the chassis, and with the lift bridge including a rectangular plate having a forward end, a rearward end, a pair of sides, a top surface and a bottom surface and adapted to be positioned on the forward end of the lift arm assembly, the lift arm assembly including a pair of parallel lift arms having forward ends and rearward ends and interconnected near the midpoints thereof by a lateral push bar, with the forward ends of the lift arms adapted for use with the lift bridge, and the lift arms further comprising means for readily mounting the lift bridge on the forward ends thereof whereby the power unit is operable for use as a load lifting jack.
- 2. The lift arm assembly as in claim 1, wherein the lift bridge is further adapted to be displaced to a position away from the forward ends of said lift arms so that the lift arms are operable for use with a jack stand.
- 3. The lift arm assembly as in claim 1, wherein the lift bridge further includes a channel extending along each side thereof, and wherein the forward end of each said lift arm further includes a leveling pad having an upper surface thereof with a flange extending horizontally therefrom for engaging the channel in the side of the lift bridge.
- 4. The lift arm assembly as in claim 1, wherein each said lift arm further includes an upper guide track extending from the forward end thereof to a position away from the forward end thereof for slideably retaining the lift bridge therein.
- 5. The lift arm assembly as in claim 4, wherein the lift bridge includes a guide member extending downward from the sides thereof for engaging said track, and wherein said upper guide track includes a recessed channel adapted to receive the guide member therein.
- 6. The lift arm assembly as in claim 5 wherein the push bar, and the left and right lift arms are formed as an integral casting.
- 7. The lift arm assembly as in claim 6 further including the left and right lift arms having the guide track recesses formed therein as an integral casting.
- 8. The lift arm assembly as in claim 5, wherein the recessed channel includes a compressible spring therein for urging the bridge to the forward end of said lift arm.
- 9. The lift arm assembly as in claim 4, wherein the lift bridge further includes recesses in the bottom surface thereof adapted to engage the guide pin therein, and wherein said upper guide track further includes a recessed channel and a follower member positioned within the channel with said follower member having a guide pin extending upward from the channel and adapted to engage the recess in the bridge.
- 10. The lift arm assembly as in claim 9 wherein the recessed channel further includes a compression spring therein for urging the follower member to the forward end of the channel, and adapted to be compressible so that the follower member can be forced toward the rearward end of the channel.
- 11. A lift arm assembly having a forward end and a rearward end for use with a jack stand power unit and a lift bridge, with the power unit including a generally rectangular chassis having a forward end and a rearward end, with the forward end of the chassis adapted to load and unload a jack stand within the chassis, and the rearward end of the chassis including a lifting means and adapted to slideably retain the rearward end of the lift arm assembly, and the lifting means adapted to elevate the forward end of the lift arm assembly; the lift bridge includes a generally rectangular plate having forward and rearward ends, left and right sides and top and bottom surfaces, with the bottom surface having recesses for engaging a guide pin therein, and the bridge is adapted to be automatically positioned on the forward end of the lift arm assembly when a jack stand is not loaded in the chassis and automatically transferred rearward to a position away from the forward ends of the lift arms when a jack stand is positioned within the chassis, so that the forward end of the lift arms are engagable with the jack stand; the lift arm assembly comprising:
a left lift arm and a right lift arm acting in parallel and interconnected near the midpoints thereof by a lateral pivotal push bar, the lift arms each having an upper surface with a recessed channel formed therein extending from the forward end to about the midpoint thereof, and having a follower member slideably retained within the channel having a guide pin extending upward from the channel and adapted to engage the recess in the bottom surface of the bridge.
- 12. The lift arm assembly as in claim 11 wherein the recessed channel further includes a compression spring therein for urging the follower member to the forward end of the channel, and adapted to be compressible so that the follower member can be forced rearward within the channel.
