Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates generally to working platforms, more specifically but not by way of limitation, a transportable work platform that is configured to receive a user and subsequently provide elevation so as to lift the user to an area above them so as to assist in execution of a desired task.

BACKGROUND

As is known in the art, various types of tasks can require specific tools to execute the tasks. There are many types of commercial and maintenance type tasks that require a user to reach an elevated location. By way of example but not limitation, electrical work in ceilings, painting, plumbing and changing light bulbs can all require the use of a ladder in order to assist the user in completing the task. Ladders come in various sizes and types with the two most common being an extension ladder and a step ladder. The latter type of ladder is typically provided in lengths from three to ten feet and is the most common type of ladder utilized to perform tasks such as but not limited to the tasks mentioned herein above. Ladders are inherently risky and tens of thousands of people a year are taken to the hospital as a result of falling from a ladder.

One issue with ladders is the relatively small rungs on which the user has to stand while executing the task. A typical rung is no more than a few inches wide and as such presents a surface on which a user's foot will overhang in both directions. Additionally, individuals who are routinely on ladders to execute tasks such as but not limited to tradesmen, will climb up and down ladders while carrying tools sometimes fifty or more times in a single day. Each traversing up and down the ladder presents a safety risk for the individual. Additionally, another drawback is the lack of space a conventional step ladder provides to maintain tools within reach of the user.

It is intended within the scope of the present invention to provide a transportable lift platform wherein the lift platform of the present invention is configured to provide a surface for a user that can be elevated and further be moved while the user is in an elevated position.
