Claims
- 1. A light cove adapted to be secured to a wall comprising:
top and bottom spaced-apart fastening devices secured to the wall; a panel section having a wall end and an end extending outwardly from the wall end; an attachment securing said wall end to said bottom fastening device; a support secured to said top fastening device and to said panel section outwardly-extending end for securing said panel section to said top fastening device.
- 2. A light cove according to claim 1 in which said attachment comprises a hinge attachment for enabling said panel section to be pivoted with respect to said bottom fastening device in the absence of when said panel section is secured to said top fastening device.
- 3. A light cove according to claim 2 in which said hinge attachment comprises:
an upwardly extending articulation member coupled to said bottom fastening device; and a downwardly extending articulation member coupled to said panel section wall end and extending into said upwardly extending articulation.
- 4. A light cove according to claim 3 in which said hinge attachment comprises a pair of U-shaped channels respectively formed on said bottom fastening device and secured to said panel section wall end, and in which said upwardly and downwardly extending articulation members are members respectively of U-shaped channels, said U-shaped channels further providing a light seal.
- 5. A light cove according to claim 4 further including an overhang positioned adjacent to said U-shaped channels to provide an additional light seal.
- 6. A light cove according to claim 1 in which said support comprises a pair of straps telescoped together to provide adjustability thereto and a device for securing said straps together.
- 7. A light cove according to claim 6 in which said top fastening device includes an elongated channel and a first of said straps includes a pair of tangs which are adapted to extend into said elongated channel for enabling engagement of said tangs with said channel.
- 8. A light cove according to claim 6 further including a latching device coupled to a second of said straps and to said panel section outwardly-extending end for enabling latching of said second strap to said panel section outwardly-extending end.
- 9. A light cove according to claim 8 in which said latching device comprises:
a U-shaped appendage secured to said panel section outwardly-extending end and having an elongated flexible lip; and said second strap includes at least one projection disposed for snapping over said lip and into said U-shaped appendage.
- 10. A light cove according to claim 9 in which said second strap including at least one projection includes two spaced apart projections.
- 11. A light cove according to claim 9 in which said attachment comprises a hinge attachment for enabling said panel section to be pivoted with respect to said bottom fastening device in the absence of when said panel section is secured to said top fastening device.
- 12. A light cove according to claim 11 in which said hinge attachment comprises:
an upwardly extending articulation member coupled to said bottom fastening device; and a downwardly extending articulation member coupled to said panel section wall end and extending into said upwardly extending articulation.
- 13. A light cove according to claim 11 in which said hinge attachment comprises a pair of U-shaped channels respectively formed on said bottom fastening device and secured to said panel section wall end, and in which said upwardly and downwardly extending articulation members are members respectively of U-shaped channels, said U-shaped channels further providing a light seal.
- 14. A light cove according to claim 13 further including an overhang positioned adjacent to said U-shaped channels to provide an additional light seal.
- 15. A light cove according to claim 1 in which said top and bottom fastening devices are disposed for attachment only to the wall for enabling relative positioning thereof with respect to one another both to provide a maximum ability to establish any desired positioning therebetween and for accommodating any unevenness that may exist in the wall.
- 16. A light cove according to claim 15 in which said attachment comprises a hinge attachment for enabling said panel section to be pivoted with respect to said bottom fastening device in the absence of when said panel section is secured to said top fastening device and further including a light fixture having at least one light bulb adapted to be secured to the wall and positionable between said top and bottom fastening devices, said light fixture being accessible for servicing and replacement of the light bulb when said panel section is pivoted with respect to said bottom fastening device in the absence of when said panel section is secured to said top fastening device.
- 17. A light cove adapted to be secured to a wall comprising:
a panel section having a wall end and an end extending outwardly from the wall end; top and bottom elongated spaced-apart fastening devices adapted to be secured to the wall; an elongated downwardly extending U-shaped channel secured to said wall end; said bottom fastening device including an elongated, upwardly extending U-shaped channel adapted to be coupled to said elongated downwardly extending U-shaped channel for enabling said panel section to be pivoted with respect to said bottom fastening device in the absence of when said panel section is secured to said top fastening device, and comprising a pair of U-shaped channels respectively formed on said bottom fastening device and secured to said panel section wall end, and respectively including upwardly and downwardly extending articulation members extending into their respective channels; a light shield positioned between said top and bottom fastening devices and adjacent to said U-shaped channels to form therewith a light seal; a support secured to said top fastening device and to said panel section outwardly-extending end for securing said panel section to said top fastening device,
including a pair of longitudinally extending straps telescoped together to provide adjustability to said support, and a device for securing said straps together; said top fastening device including an elongated channel; a first of said straps including a pair of opposite directed tangs extending longitudinally with respect to said first of said straps, which tangs are adapted to extend into said elongated top fastening device channel when said first of said straps is pivoted from being parallel to said top fastening device channel to being perpendicular thereto, for enabling engagement of said tangs with said channel; a latching device coupled to a second of said straps and to said panel section outwardly-extending end for enabling latching of said second strap to said panel section outwardly-extending end, in which said latching device comprises
a U-shaped appendage secured to said panel section outwardly-extending end and having an elongated flexible lip, and a pair of projections in said second strap disposed for deforming and snapping over said lip and into said U-shaped appendage; and a light fixture having at least one light bulb adapted to be secured to the wall and positionable between said top and bottom fastening devices, said light fixture being accessible for servicing and replacement of the light bulb when said panel section is pivoted with respect to said bottom fastening device in the absence of when said panel section is secured to said top fastening device, and said top fastening device, said bottom fastening device and said light fixture being disposed for attachment only to the wall for enabling relative positioning thereof with respect to one another both to provide a maximum ability to establish any desired positioning thereamongst and for accommodating any unevenness of the wall.
- 18. A method for enabling a light cove to be secured to a wall and for providing easy access to a light fixture shrouded by the light cove, comprising the steps of:
securing a top fastening device to the wall; securing a bottom fastening device to the wall; positioning the light fixture between the top and bottom fastening devices; and securing the light fixture to the wall.
- 19. A method according to claim 18 further comprising the step of hinging a panel section at a first of its ends to one of the top and the bottom fastening devices and, at a second of its ends, releasably securing the panel section to the other of the top and the bottom fastening devices, for enabling the panel section to be pivoted about its first end and, thereby, for enabling access to the light fixture.
- 20. A method according to claim 19 further comprising the step of providing an interleaved construction between the first panel section end and the one of the top and the bottom fastening devices to provide the hinging therebetween.
- 21. A method according to claim 20 further comprising the step of providing an adjustable connection between the second panel end and the other of the top and the bottom fastening devices.
