BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
(1) Field of the Invention

The disclosure relates to skirt devices and more particularly pertains to a new skirt device for creating a light show with a skirt.

(2) Description of Related Art Including Information Disclosed Under 37 CFR 1.97 and 1.98

The prior art relates to skirt devices. Existing devices have integrated lights and lighted designs. Various shirts, dresses, and skirts have illuminating elements. These known devices lack continuous light strips following traditional patterns.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a skirt body having a waist band, a hem, and a skirt body extending therebetween. The skirt body has a skirt front side, and a skirt back side. The skirt body is independent or coupled to an upper top portion as part of a dress. A power pack is coupled to the skirt body. A plurality of batteries is coupled within the power pack. A power switch coupled to the power pack. The power switch is in operational communication with the plurality of batteries. A power wire is coupled to the skirt body. The power wire is in operational communication with the plurality of batteries. A plurality of light strips is coupled to the skirt body. The plurality of light strips extends around the skirt body and is in operational communication with the power wire.

There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)

The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:

FIG. 1 is a front elevation view of a light up skirt apparatus according to an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 2 is a rear elevation view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 3 is a detail view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 4 is an in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 5 is an in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new skirt device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5, the light up skirt apparatus 10 generally comprises a skirt 12 having a waist band 14, a hem 16, and a skirt body 18 extending therebetween. The skirt 12 has a skirt front side 20, a skirt back side 22, and a skirt seam 24 dividing the skirt front side 20 and the skirt back side 22. The skirt 12 may be independent or may be coupled to an upper top portion 26 as part of a dress 28. The skirt 12 may be designed in a traditional style for dancing. The skirt 12 may have a ruffled fringe 30 coupled along the hem 16 as part of said traditional style.

A power pack 32 is coupled to the skirt 12. The power pack 32 may be coupled to the waist band 14. A plurality of batteries 34 is coupled within the power pack 32. A power switch 36 is coupled to the power pack 32 and is in operational communication with the plurality of batteries 34. A power wire 38 is coupled to the skirt 12. The power wire 38 may be coupled within the skirt seam 24 and is in operational communication with the plurality of batteries 34.

A plurality of light strips 40 is coupled to the skirt 12. Each light strip 40 comprises an illuminable strip body 42 and a plurality of LED lights 44. The plurality of light strips 40 extends around the skirt body 18 and is in operational communication with the power wire 38. Each light strip 40 may fully encircle the skirt front side 20 and the skirt back side 22. The plurality of light strips 40 may comprise a plurality of strip pairs 46. The strip pairs 46 may form a decorative pattern on the skirt 12 conforming to traditional designs. Each light strip 40 is substantially flexible to allow the skirt body 18 to bend and flow without restriction, allowing it for use in traditional dances.

In use, the skirt 12 or the dress 28 is worn by a dancer. The power switch 36 is used to illuminate the plurality of light strips 40 as desired while the dancer performs to create an added light show.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
