Claims
- 1. A showcase having a frame and a transparent window member resting on said frame, said frame comprising:
- a one-piece frame member including first and second portions joined at a corner, each of said frame portions having a planar from vertical surface, an upper horizontal surface, a lower horizontal surface below said upper horizontal surface, and an interconnecting vertical surface extending below said upper horizontal surface and said lower horizontal surface, said front vertical surface being continuous but bent at said corner, said upper, lower, and interconnecting surfaces abutting one another at said corner, said front surface, said top surface, and said interconnecting surface defining a downwardly opening channel;
- connector means at said corner for interconnecting said lower horizontal surfaces in fixed relationship to maintain said frame portions in fixed angular relationship;
- a corner post extending downwardly from said corner, said corner post having a top portion within said downwardly opening channel; and
- securing means for securing said top portion of said corner post within said channel.
- 2. A showcase as defined in claim 1 wherein said connector means includes a weld plate welded to both of said lower horizontal surfaces.
- 3. A showcase as defined in claim 1 wherein said securing means includes a wedge member forced into said channel to force said corner post top portion into engagement with said channel surfaces and thereby retain said corner post within said frame.
- 4. A showcase as defined in claim 3 wherein said corner post top portion includes an ear oriented generally perpendicularly to said frame front surface, said wedge member engaging said ear to further retain said top portion within said channel.
- 5. An improved display case including a glass enclosed display area having an upper horizontal polygonal glass and a one-piece polygonal frame for supporting said glass, wherein the improvement comprises said frame comprising:
- a one-piece member providing the entire polygonal frame, said member being uniform in vertical section about the perimeter of said frame, said frame including a planar front wall, a top wall extending perpendicularly from said front wall, a glass-support wall parallel to and below said top wall, and an interconnecting wall interconnecting said top and glass-support walls, said vertical section thereby being stepped to provide an inner recessed area within which said glass is received on said glass-support wall, said front wall being bent at corners of the polygonal shape, said top walls, interconnecting walls, and said glass-support walls abutting one another at corners to each provide a continuous surface through the corners, said front wall, said top wall, and said interconnecting wall defining a downwardly opening channel;
- intersecuring means for intersecuring said adjacent glass-support walls in said recessed area under said glass;
- a corner post extending downwardly from selected ones of said corners, said corner post having a top portion within said channel; and
- securing means for securing said top portion of said corner post within said channel.
- 6. A showcase as defined in claim 2 wherein said weld plate is located under said lower horizontal surfaces.
- 7. An improved display case as defined in claim 5 wherein said intersecuring means is located below the upper surface of said glass-support walls, whereby said glass-support walls provide a continuous surface through the corner.
- 8. A showcase as defined in claim 5 wherein said securing means includes a wedge member forced into said channel to force said corner post top portion into engagement with said channel walls and thereby retain said corner post within said frame.
- 9. A showcase as defined in claim 8 wherein said corner post top portion includes an ear oriented generally perpendicularly to said frame front wall, said wedge member engaging said ear to further retain said top portion within said channel.
