The present invention relates generally to an electric bedstead and more particularly, to a lightweight electric bedstead.
A conventional electric bedstead is generally composed of a fixed base, a plurality of driving motors, and angle adjustable back supporting rack, thigh supporting rack and lower leg supporting rack. Because a mattress is adapted to be placed on the electric bedstead, the conventional electric bedstead is provided at the topside thereof with a plurality of longitudinally and transversely arranged supporting rods or metal net to support the mattress and users lying on the mattress. To fulfill safety standards, the bedstead structure must have a sufficient structural strength that can bear maybe more than 200 kilograms for a single size bed. Therefore, the conventional electric bedstead is quite heavy, resulting in disadvantages in shipping and storage to manufactures and inconveniences to consumers when the consumers carry and assemble the conventional electric bedstead.
The present invention has been accomplished in view of the above-noted circumstances. It is an objective of the present invention to provide an electric bedstead, which is lightweight with a sufficient weight bearing strength fulfilling requirements of safety standards, facilitating carry, storage and assembly of the electric bedstead.
To attain the above objective, the present invention provides an electric bedstead comprising a frame, a supporting cloth, a first clamping member, and a second clamping member. The frame includes a first rod and a second rod. The supporting cloth has a supporting portion, a first bending portion extending from a first lateral side of the supporting portion and attached on the first rod, and a second bending portion extending from a second lateral side of the supporting portion and attached on the second rod. The first clamping member is mounted to the first rod of the frame in a way that the first bending portion of the supporting cloth is clamped between the first clamping member and the first rod. The second clamping member is mounted to the second rod of the frame in a way that the second bending portion of the supporting cloth is clamped between the second clamping member and the second rod. Compared to the conventional electric bedstead, the lightweight electric bedstead of the present invention greatly reduces its weight, thereby facilitating carry, storage and assembly of the lightweight electric bedstead.

The buttock supporting rack 14, the back supporting rack 16, the thigh supporting rack 18 and the lower leg supporting rack 20 have basically a similar structure, which is composed of one or more frames 30, one or more supporting cloths 40, a plurality of first clamping members 50, and a plurality of second clamping members 60. For concise illustration of the present invention, hereunder only the lower leg supporting rack 20, as an example, is given for discussion.
The frame 30 has a rectangular shape having parallel and longitudinally arranged first rod 31 and second rod 32, and parallel and transversally arranged third rod 33 and fourth rod 34. The rods 31, 32, 33 and 34 have a similar structure. For concise illustration, hereunder the first rod 31 is taken as an example for discussion. The first rod 31 has a circular cross-section. The first rod 31 is further provided with an inner edge 311 facing an inner portion 301 (hollow center) of the frame 30, a top edge 312 facing upwardly, an outer edge 313 opposite to the inner edge 311, and a bottom edge 314 facing downwardly. In other embodiments, the rods 31 to 34 may have a rectangular cross-section or specific-shaped cross-section.
The supporting cloth 40 has a supporting portion 41 for supporting mattress and bearing weight, a first connecting portion, namely first bending portion 44, extending downwardly from a first lateral side 42 of the supporting portion 41 and attached on the inner edge 311 of the first rod 31, and a second connecting portion, namely second bending portion 47, extending downwardly from a second lateral side 43 of the supporting portion 41 and attached on the inner edge 321 of the second rod 32. For the supporting cloth 40, woven or nonwoven cloth made of plastic material, such as nylon, or natural material, such as cotton or linen, may be used.
The first clamping member 50 is an elongated sheet member made of metal or plastic material. The first clamping member 50 has an arc-shaped cross-section, such that the first clamping member 50 can be smoothly attached on the inner edge 311 of the first rod 31. The first clamping member 50 is provided with three through holes 52, through which three fasteners 54 are inserted. For the fasteners 54, bolts, screws, rivets or other equivalent members may be used. In this embodiment, the fasteners 54 are realized as bolts having threaded shanks inserted through the through holes 52 and the first bending portion 44 of the supporting cloth 40 and screwingly threaded into the first rod 31, such that the first clamping member 50 is fixedly mounted to the first rod 31 of the frame 30 and the first bending portion 44 of the supporting cloth 40 is tightly clamped between the first clamping member 50 and the first rod 31.
Similarly, the second clamping member 60 is fixedly mounted to the second rod 32 of the frame 30 in a way that the second bending portion 47 of the supporting cloth 40 is tightly clamped between the second clamping member 60 and the second rod 32.
With the above-mentioned structure, the supporting cloth 40 can be tightly and fixedly stretched between the first rod 31 and the second rod 32, such that the supporting cloth 40 can provide excellent supporting strength so as to bear the weights of the mattress and the users. According to experimental test, the supporting cloth 40 of the present invention can provide sufficient weight bearing strength fulfilling requirements of safety standards. Compared to conventional electric bedsteads, the electric bedstead 10 of the present invention has a relatively lighter weight, facilitating carry, storage and assembly of the electric bedstead 10 to users, lowering transportation costs of the manufacturers, and reducing purchased costs and shipping burden of the users. Further, users can assemble the electric bedstead 10 with less labor thanks to the lightweight feature of the electric bedstead 10. The electric bedstead 10 having the above-mentioned structural features can achieve the objective of the present invention. As a result, the electric bedstead 10 of the present invention has a great potential in trade market.
Based on the technical features of the present invention, various modifications to the structure of the lightweight electric bedstead 10 of the present invention may be made. For example, the supporting cloth 40 may be fixed between two perpendicular rods, e.g. between the first rod 31 and the third rod 33, or between two rods having a specific included angle therebetween.
