Claims
- 1. A line printer type carrier having N character positions for use in a line printer coupled to a computer system using an M-character type data array consisting of Q=M.div.P identical sets of P printable characters each, said line printer type carrier having N character positions made up of K indentical sets of characters each set including P printable characters and R dummy characters, the number of said dummy characters being dependent upon the number of printable characters in each set, where N, K, P, R and Q are integers with K>Q and N=K (P+R).
- 2. A line printer type carrier as claimed in claim 1, wherein M=240 and N=384.
- 3. A line printer type carrier as claimed in claim 2, wherein the total number of dummy characters on said line printer type carrier is K.multidot.R and is equal to 24 for any value of P which is not a factor of N.
- 4. A line printer type carrier as claimed in claim 2, wherein K=12, P=30 and R=2.
- 5. A line printer type carrier as claimed in claim 2, wherein K=8 and P=48 and R=0.
- 6. A line printer type carrier as claimed in claim 2, wherein K=6, P=60 and R=4.
- 7. A line printer type carrier as claimed in claim 2, wherein K=3, P=120 and R=8.
