Claims
- 1. An apparatus for pivotally supporting a frame for rotation of the frame relative to a selected axis of pivotation, comprising:
- a plurality of connectors connected to the frame at pivot support points; and
- linear means for supporting the connectors, each connector movable along a respective axis of travel defined as passing through its respective pivot support point and through a travel axis convergence point, the axis of travel for each connector passing through the travel axis convergence point, all of the pivot support points and the travel axis convergence point characterized as being on the circumference of a reference circle when the frame is positioned in a reference mode, the reference circle intersecting the axis of pivotation at an initial pivotation center which is located at one end of a reference diameter of the reference circle, the travel axis convergence point being located at the other end of the reference diameter.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1 further characterized as comprising at least three connectors.
- 3. An apparatus for pivotally supporting a frame for rotation relative to an axis of pivotation comprising:
- a plurality of connectors pivotally secured to the frame at spaced apart pivot support points;
- a plurality of bearing posts equal in number to the number of connectors, each connector being mounted on one of the bearing posts for movement of the connector along a respective axis of travel, the axis of travel of each connector defined as passing through its pivot support point for the respective connector and through a common travel axis convergence point, all of the pivot support points and the travel axis convergence point characterized as being on the circumference of a reference circle when the frame is positioned in a reference mode, the reference circle intersecting the axis of pivotation at an initial pivotation center located at one end of a reference diameter of the reference circle, the travel axis convergence point being located at the other end of the reference diameter of the reference circle; and
- means for supporting the bearing posts.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 3 further characterized as comprising at least three connectors.
- 5. An apparatus for pivotally supporting a frame on a support platform, comprising:
- a plurality of pivoting connectors connected to the frame at spaced apart pivot support points, the pivoting connectors arrangeably having a reference mode wherein all of the pivot support points are positioned on the circumference of a reference circle, the reference circle being characterized as having a travel axis convergence point, the travel axis convergence point defining with each pivot support point an axis of travel for each of the pivoting connectors, the number of axes of travel being equal to the number of support points; and,
- a plurality of bearing posts connected to the support platform and connected to the pivoting connectors, each bearing post having an axis of support parallel to the axis of travel passing through the pivot support point at which its respective pivoting connector is connected to the frame, each of the pivoting connectors movable along its respective travel axis.
- 6. The apparatus of claim 5 further characterized as comprising at least three pivoting connectors.
- 7. An apparatus for supporting a frame on a support platform, comprising:
- at least three pivoting connectors connected to the frame at respective pivot support points, the pivoting connectors arrangeably having a reference mode wherein the pivot support points are positioned on the circumference of a reference circle, the reference circle being characterized as having a travel axis convergence point, the travel axis convergence point defining with each pivot support point an axis of travel; and,
- a plurality of bearing posts equal in number to the number of pivoting connectors, each bearing post connected to the support platform and connected to one of the pivoting connectors, each bearing post having its axis parallel to the axis of travel which passes through the pivot support point to which its respective pivoting connector is connected to the frame.
- 8. An apparatus for pivotally supporting a frame on a support platform for rotation of the frame relative to an axis of pivotation, comprising:
- a plurality of pivoting connectors pivotally connected to the frame at pivot support points; and,
- a plurality of linear bearing posts supported by the support platform and connected to the pivoting connectors, the frame having a reference position whereat the pivot support points lay on the circumference of a reference circle characterized as having an initial pivotation center of the frame, the initial pivotation center laying at one end of a reference diameter of the reference circle, the reference circle also characterized as having a travel axis convergence point located at the other end of the reference diameter, each of the linear bearing posts having an axis of support parallel to an axis of travel which passes through the pivot support point of its respective pivoting connector and through the travel axis convergence point.
- 9. The apparatus of claim 8 further characterized as comprising at least three pivoting connectors and three linear bearing posts.
- 10. An apparatus for supporting a frame for pivotation about an initial axis of pivotation, comprising:
- a bearing plate;
- a plurality of bearing posts supported in spatial coplanar relationship by the bearing plate; and
- a plurality of connectors equal in number to the number of bearing posts, each of the connectors connected to one of the bearing posts and pivotally connected to the frame at a pivot support point, each connector being movable along the longitudinal axis of its respective bearing post and along a respective axis of travel, the axis of travel of all of the connectors converging to a common travel axis convergence point, the frame having a positional reference mode in which all of the pivot support points are positioned on the circumference of a reference circle that passes through the travel axis convergence point, the reference circle circumference also intersecting the initial axis of pivotation at an initial pivotation center which is located at one end of a reference diameter of the reference circle, and the travel axis convergence point being located at the other end of the reference diameter.
- 11. The apparatus of claim 10 further characterized as comprising at least three bearing posts and three connectors.
