Claims
- 1. A composition comprising
- .alpha.) an organic material subject to oxidative, thermal or light-induced degradation, and
- .beta.) an effective stabilizing amount of at least one product obtainable by reacting components a), b) and c)
- in a molar ratio of a), b) and c) which is 0.1:1:0.1 to 15:1:30, wherein
- component a) is a compound of formula I or a mixture of compounds of formula I,
- component b) is a compound of formula II or a mixture of compounds of formula II, and
- component c) is a compound of formula III or a mixture of compounds of formula III, ##STR92## in which, in the compound of formula I, the radicals Y are OH,
- a is the number 1, 2, 3, 4 or 6, where,
- when Y is OH and a is 1,
- X is C.sub.1 -C.sub.45 alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.18 alkenyl or --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 T.sub.1 (CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.b R.sub.4,
- T.sub.1 is oxygen or sulfur,
- R.sub.4 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 alkyl,
- b is an integer ranging from 0 to 10,
- when Y is OH and a is 2,
- X is --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 T.sub.2 (CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.b CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --, in which b is as defined above, ##STR93## in which T.sub.2 is oxygen, sulfur or ##STR94## c is an integer ranging from 2 to 10, R.sub.7 and R.sub.8 independently of one another are hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkyl or phenyl, or R.sub.7 and R.sub.8 together with the C atom to which they are bonded form a C.sub.5 -C.sub.12 cycloalkyl ring, or
- when a is 3,
- X is C.sub.3 -C.sub.10 alkanetriyl or,
- when Y is OH and a is 4,
- X is C.sub.4 -C.sub.10 alkanetetrayl, ##STR95## or when Y is OH and a is 6,
- X is ##STR96## or C.sub.6 -C.sub.10 alkanehexayl; in the compound of the formula II,
- the radicals Z are hydrogen or a group of the formula ##STR97## k is an integer ranging from 0 to 6, in which h is 2 or 3,
- i is an integer ranging from 0 to 12, and
- R.sub.11 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.30 alkyl, C.sub.8 -C.sub.30 alkenyl, C.sub.5 -C.sub.12 cycloalkyl, phenyl or C.sub.7 -C.sub.9 phenylalkyl, with the proviso that the compound of the formula II has a group ##STR98## and in the compound of the formula III,
- R.sub.12 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkyl, C.sub.5 -C.sub.12 cycloalkyl, phenyl or C.sub.7 -C.sub.9 phenylalkyl,
- R.sub.15 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkyl, C.sub.5 -C.sub.12 cycloalkyl, phenyl or C.sub.7 -C.sub.9 phenylalkyl,
- s is 0, 1 or 2,
- Q is ##STR99## in which R.sub.15 is as defined above, m is an integer ranging from 0 to 3,
- R.sub.16 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkyl, and
- n is an integer ranging from 1 to 6, where,
- when n is 1,
- R.sub.17 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.45 alkyl, C.sub.5 -C.sub.12 cycloalkyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.18 alkenyl, a monovalent radical of a hexose, a monovalent radical of a hexitol, ##STR100## or furthermore R.sub.17 is --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --T.sub.3 --R.sub.19 or ##STR101## in which T.sub.3 is oxygen or sulfur,
- R.sub.19 is ##STR102## in which R.sub.12 and R.sub.15 are as defined above, or R.sub.19 is furthermore hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.24 alkyl, phenyl, C.sub.5 -C.sub.12 cycloalkyl or ##STR103## in which p is an integer ranging from 2 to 4,
- q is an integer ranging from 2 to 20,
- R.sub.23 and R.sub.24 independently of one another are hydrogen or methyl, with the proviso that R.sub.23 and R.sub.24 are not simultaneously methyl;
- R.sub.25 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.24 alkyl, or,
- when n is 2,
- R.sub.17 is a divalent radical of a hexose, a divalent radical of a hexitol, ##STR104## in which p and q are as defined above, --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --T.sub.4 --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --, --CH.sub.2 --CH.dbd.CH--CH.sub.2 -- or --CH.sub.2 --C.tbd.C--CH.sub.2 --, in which R.sub.18 and R.sub.20 independently of one another are hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl or together are the radical --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --,
- r is an integer ranging from 2 to 10,
- T.sub.4 is sulfur or ##STR105## in which R.sub.7 and R.sub.8 are as defined above, or when n is 3
- R.sub.17 is a trivalent radical of a hexose, a trivalent radical of a hexitol or ##STR106## in which R.sub.27 is hydrogen, CH.sub.2 OH or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, or
- when n is 4,
- R.sub.17 is a tetravalent radical of a hexose, a tetravalent radical of a hexitol or C.sub.4 -C.sub.10 alkanetetrayl, or
- when n is 5,
- R.sub.17 is a pentavalent radical of a hexose or a pentavalent radical of a hexitol, or,
- when n is 6,
- R.sub.17 is a hexavalent radical of a hexitol or ##STR107##
- 2. A composition as claimed in claim 1 in which in component .beta.), in the compound of formula III, s is the number 1 or 2.
- 3. A composition as claimed in claim 1 in which in component .beta.), in the compound of formula I,
- the radicals Y are OH, and
- a is the number 1, 2, 3, 4 or 6, where,
- when Y is OH and a is 1,
- X is C.sub.1 -C.sub.30 alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.18 alkenyl or --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 T.sub.1 (CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.b R.sub.4,
- T.sub.1 is oxygen or sulfur,
- R.sub.4 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl,

- when Y is OH and a is 1,
- X is C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.18 alkenyl or --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 T.sub.1 (CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.b R.sub.4,
- T.sub.1 is oxygen,

- b is an integer ranging from 0 to 10, or,
- when Y is OH and a is 2,

- m is an integer ranging from 0 to 3, and
- n is an integer 1, 2 or 4, where,
- when n is 1,

- R.sub.17 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, or,

A composition as claimed in claim 1 in which in component .beta.), the compound of formula I is pentaerythritol, thiodiethylene glycol, 1,4-butanediol, 1,2-propanediol, diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol or glycerol; the compound of formula II is sunflower oil, coconut fat, rapeseed oil, maize germ oil, safflower oil, olive oil, groundnut oil or Radiamuls; and the compound of formula III is methyl 3-(3',5'-di-tert-butyl-4'-hydroxyphenyl)propionate or methyl 3-(3'-tert-butyl-4'-hydroxy-5'methylphenyl)propionate.
- 9. A composition as claimed in claim 1 in which in component .beta.), the amount by weight of active group E-2 ##STR137## is 30 to 80% by weight.
- 10. A composition as claimed in claim 1 in which in component .beta.), the first components a) and b) are reacted with each other and the resulting intermediate is subsequently reacted with component c).
- 11. A composition as claimed in claim 1, in which component .alpha.) is a lubricant, a hydraulic fluid, a metal-working fluid or a synthetic polymer.
- 12. A composition as claimed in claim 11, in which component .alpha.) is a lubricant which is a mineral oil, a synthetic oil or a mixture thereof.
- 13. A composition as claimed in claim 11, in which component .alpha.) is a synthetic polymer.
- 14. A composition as claimed in claim 13, in which component .alpha.) is a polyolefin or a styrene copolymer.
- 15. A process for stabilising polymers or oils against oxidative, thermal or light-induced degradation, which comprises incorporating a product as claimed in claim 1 into these polymers or oils.
