Claims
- 1. A liquid crystal device, comprising:
- a pair of substrates each having thereon an electrode, and a chiral smectic liquid crystal disposed between the substrates,
- said pair of substrates including a substrate further having a polymeric ion-conductive film and an organic electroconductive film on the electrode.
- 2. A liquid crystal device, comprising:
- a pair of substrates each having thereon an electrode, and a chiral smectic liquid crystal disposed between the substrates;
- said pair of substrates including a substrate further having a polymeric film and an organic electroconductive film on the electrode, wherein said polymeric film comprises a material selected form the group consisting of polyether, polyester, polyimine and crosslinked polymers thereof represented by the following formulae (1) to (6): ##STR10##
- 3. A liquid crystal device, comprising:
- a pair of substrates each having thereon an electrode, and a chiral smectic liquid crystal disposed between the substrates;
- said pair of substrates including a substrate further having a polymeric ion-conductive film and an organic electroconductive film on the electrode; wherein said polymeric ion-conductive film comprises a material selected from the group consisting of polyether, polyester, polyimine and crosslinked polymers thereof represented by the following formulae (1) to (6). ##STR11##
- 4. A liquid crystal device according to any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein said electrode is locally disposed at a portion of the substrate, and said organic electroconductive film has a high conductive portion provided with a conductivity of at least 10.sup.-4 S/cm, said high conductive portion being selectively disposed on said electrode.
- 5. A liquid crystal device according to any of claims 1 to 3, wherein said organic electroconductive film is an alignment control film.
- 6. A liquid crystal device according to any of claims 1 to 3, wherein said polymeric film is an alignment control film.
- 7. A liquid crystal device according to any of claims 1 to 3, wherein said chiral smectic liquid crystal does not have a cholesteric phase in the course of temperature decrease.
- 8. A liquid crystal device according to any of claims 1 to 3, wherein said organic electroconductive film comprises a material or derivatives of a material selected from the group consisting of polypyrrole represented by the formula ##STR12## polyaniline represented by the formula ##STR13## (wherein X=H or --CO--R, R=C.sub.m H.sub.2m+1, and m is an integer of 0 to 12), polythiophene, polyarylene-vinylene, poly(pyridine-2,5-diyl), poly(2,2'-bipyridine-5,5'-diyl) and poly(pyridine-5,2-diyl-thiophene-2,5-diyl).
- 9. A liquid crystal device according to any of claims 1 to 3, wherein said liquid crystal has a spontaneous polarization of at least 10 nC/cm.sup.2.
- 10. A liquid crystal device according to any of claims 1 to 3, wherein said liquid crystal showing a helical pitch of at most 0.5 .mu.m in SmC* phase.
- 11. A liquid crystal device according to any of claims 1 to 3, wherein said liquid crystal attained an improved alignment state by application of an AC electric field.
