- 2. A liquid crystal display system according to claim 1, wherein said liquid crystal display system is a telephone system.
- 3. A liquid crystal display system according to claim 2, wherein said liquid crystal panel has a dot-matrix display unit and a segment display unit, and, in said stand-by mode, a portion of said segment display unit and a plurality of pixels in the central portion of the dot-matrix display unit are selectively turned on.
- 4. A liquid crystal display system according to claim 1, wherein when an operation mode of said liquid crystal display system is changed to said stand-by mode from a normal mode, a boost rate of said boost circuit is changed to said predetermined boost rate lower than that in said normal mode.
- 5. A mobile phone system comprising:a liquid crystal display panel having a plurality of first signal lines, a plurality of second signal lines and a plurality of pixels, wherein said plurality of first signal lines are arranged in a horizontal direction, said plurality of second signal lines are arranged in a vertical direction, and wherein said plurality of pixels are arranged at crossing points of each of said plurality of first signal lines and each of said plurality of second signal lines; a liquid crystal display controller outputting said plurality of first signal lines and said plurality of second signal lines signals for controlling each of said plurality of pixels being in a turn-on status or turn-off status, said liquid crystal display controller including: a boost circuit generating a liquid crystal drive voltage and being capable of changing a boosting rate, and a register for setting the boosting rate of said boost circuit; wherein ones of said plurality of pixels in said horizontal direction are defined as a row so that said liquid crystal display panel has a plurality of rows, and wherein when said mobile phone system is in a waiting mode, said register in said liquid crystal display controller is set to a predetermined boost rate and said liquid crystal display controller controls said plurality of first signal lines and said plurality of second signal lines to display predetermined information using contiguous ones of said plurality of rows.
- 6. A mobile phone system according to claim 5,wherein said liquid crystal display controller outputs said signals having a first level to ones of said plurality of first signal lines corresponding to said contiguous ones of said plurality of rows so that ones of pixels relating to said contiguous ones of said plurality of rows are in said turn-on status, and wherein said liquid crystal display controller outputs said signals having a second level to the remaining first signal lines so that all of pixels relating to the remaining rows are in said turn-off status.
- 7. A mobile phone system according to claim 6,wherein said predetermined information is at least date information.
- 8. A mobile phone system according to claim 5, wherein when an operation mode of said mobile phone system is changed to said waiting mode from a normal mode, a boost rate of said boost circuit is changed to said predetermined rate lower than that in said normal mode.
- 9. A display system comprising:a liquid crystal display panel including a plurality of pixels arranged in dot-matrix form, a plurality of first signal lines, a plurality of second signal lines, wherein said first signal lines and said second signal lines are across each other so that each of said plurality of pixels are arranged at a cross point of one of said plurality of first signal lines and one of said plurality of second signal lines, wherein ones of said plurality of pixels related to one first signal line are defined as a row so that said liquid crystal display panel has a plurality of rows; a liquid crystal display controller connected to said plurality of first signal lines and said plurality of second signal lines, said liquid crystal display controller including: a boost circuit generating a liquid crystal drive voltage and being capable of changing a boosting rate, and a register for setting the boosting rate of said boost circuit; wherein when said display system is in stand-by status, said register in said liquid crystal display controller is set to a predetermined boost rate and said liquid crystal display controls ones of said pixels being in turn-on status on the top-end row and other contiguous ones of said plurality of rows in the liquid crystal display panel, and wherein there is at least one row between the top-end row and the contiguous ones of said plurality of rows in which all of pixels are in said turn-off status.
- 10. A display system according to claim 9, wherein said liquid crystal display controller outputs said signals having a first level to ones of said plurality of first signal lines corresponding to said contiguous ones of said plurality of rows so that ones of pixels relating to said contiguous ones of said plurality of rows are in said turn-on status, andwherein said liquid crystal display controller outputs said signals having a second level to the remaining first signal lines so that all of pixels relating to the remaining rows are in said turn-off status.
- 11. A display system according to claim 9, wherein when an operation mode of said liquid crystal display system is changed to said stand-by mode from a normal mode, a boost rate of said boost circuit is changed to said predetermined rate lower than that in said normal mode.
