Claims
- 1. A liquid crystal display device comprising:a pair of substrates; a liquid crystal layer interposed between said pair of substrates; a plurality of first common electrodes which extend in a direction and being formed on one substrate of said pair of substrates; a second common electrode connected to two of said first common electrodes and having a first edge adjacent said plurality of first common electrodes and a second edge opposite to said plurality of first common electrodes; a first pixel electrode, formed between two of said plurality of first common electrodes and extending in the same direction as the direction of said plurality of first common electrodes; and a second pixel electrode overlapping said second common electrode, connected to said first pixel electrode and covering at least a portion of the first edge of said second common electrode.
- 2. A liquid crystal display according to claim 1, further comprising:a scanning wiring extending in parallel to said second common electrode; a signal wiring extending in parallel to said first pixel electrode; and a three-terminal switching element having a gate connected to the scanning wiring, a source connected to the scanning wiring and a drain connected to said second common electrode.
- 3. A liquid crystal display according to claim 2, wherein a width of said second pixel electrode is larger than a width of said second common electrode.
- 4. A liquid crystal display according to claim 2, wherein said second common electrode is made of aluminum.
- 5. A liquid crystal display device comprising:a pair of substrates; a liquid crystal layer interposed between said pair of substrates; a plurality of first common electrodes extending in a direction and being formed on one substrate of said pair of substrates; a second common electrode connected to two of said plurality of first common electrodes and having a first edge adjacent said plurality of said first common electrodes and a second edge opposite to said plurality of first common electrodes; a first pixel electrode, formed between two of said plurality of first common electrodes and extending in the same direction as the direction of said plurality of first common electrodes; and a second pixel electrode overlapping said second common electrode, connected to said first pixel electrode and covering at least a portion of the first edge of said second common electrode; wherein an electric field is generated in said liquid crystal layer by applying a voltage between said first pixel electrode and said one of said plurality of first common electrodes.
