Claims
- 1. A liquid fuel injector for a gas turbine engine, comprising:
- a cylindrical liquid fuel tube having a reduced diameter discharge end;
- a cylindrical air assist tube concentrically disposed around said cylindrical liquid fuel tube and having a reduced diameter discharge end disposed around the reduced diameter discharge end of said cylindrical liquid fuel tube; and
- a cylindrical air blast tube disposed around the reduced diameter discharge ends of said cylindrical liquid fuel tube and said cylindrical air assist tube and having a plurality of radial spider supports extending from said air blast tube to support the reduced diameter discharge end of said cylindrical air assist tube.
- 2. A liquid fuel injector for a gas turbine engine, comprising:
- a cylindrical liquid fuel tube having a reduced diameter discharge end;
- a cylindrical air assist tube concentrically disposed around said cylindrical liquid fuel tube and having a reduced diameter discharge end disposed around the reduced diameter discharge end of said cylindrical liquid fuel tube and with the exterior of said cylindrical air assist tube insulated.
- 3. A liquid fuel injector system for a gas turbine engine having a compressor and a turbine comprising:
- a cylindrical liquid fuel tube having a reduced diameter discharge end;
- a cylindrical air assist tube concentrically disposed around said cylindrical liquid fuel tube and having a reduced diameter discharge end disposed around the reduced diameter discharge end of said cylindrical liquid fuel tube;
- a conduit to continuously deliver compressed air from said compressor to said cylindrical air assist tube during operation of said liquid fuel injector system;
- a pump disposed in said conduit to raise the pressure of the compressed air delivered to said air assist tube; and
- a heat exchanger in said conduit downstream of said pump to remove heat from said pumped compressed air.
- 4. A liquid fuel injector system for a gas turbine engine having a compressor and a turbine comprising:
- a cylindrical liquid fuel tube having a reduced diameter discharge end;
- a cylindrical air assist tube concentrically disposed around said cylindrical liquid fuel tube and having a reduced diameter discharge end disposed around the reduced diameter discharge end of said cylindrical liquid fuel tube;
- a conduit to continuously deliver compressed air from said compressor to said cylindrical air assist tube during operation of said liquid fuel injector system;
- a pump disposed in said conduit to raise the pressure of the compressed air delivered to said air assist tube; and
- a cylindrical air blast tube disposed around the reduced diameter discharge ends of said cylindrical liquid fuel tube and said cylindrical air assist tube and having a plurality of radial spider supports extending from said air blast tube to support the reduced diameter discharge end of said cylindrical air assist tube.
- 5. A liquid fuel injector system for a gas turbine engine having a compressor and a turbine comprising:
- a cylindrical liquid fuel tube having a reduced diameter discharge end;
- a cylindrical air assist tube concentrically disposed around said cylindrical liquid fuel tube and having a reduced diameter discharge end disposed around the reduced diameter discharge end of said cylindrical liquid fuel tube;
- a conduit to continuously deliver compressed air from said compressor to said cylindrical air assist tube during operation of said liquid fuel injector system;
- a pump disposed in said conduit to raise the pressure of the compressed air delivered to said air assist tube; and
- a cylindrical liquid fuel spill tube concentrically disposed between said cylindrical liquid fuel tube and said cylindrical air assist tube and having a reduced diameter end affixed to said cylindrical liquid fuel tube near the reduced diameter discharge end of said cylindrical liquid fuel tube;
- said cylindrical liquid fuel tube having a liquid fuel spill orifice upstream of where said cylindrical liquid fuel spill tube is affixed to said cylindrical liquid fuel tube so that liquid fuel may spill from said cylindrical liquid fuel tube into said cylindrical liquid fuel spill tube and flow in said cylindrical liquid fuel spill tube counter to the flow of liquid in said cylindrical liquid fuel tube.
- 6. The liquid fuel injector system of claim 5 and in addition, a heat exchanger in said conduit to continuously deliver compressed air from said compressor to said cylindrical air assist tube upstream of said pump to remove heat from said compressed air.
- 7. The liquid fuel injector system of claim 5 and in addition, a heat exchanger in said conduit to continuously deliver compressed air from said compressor to said cylindrical air assist tube downstream of said pump to remove heat from said compressed air.
