Claims
- 1. A compound useful for inhibiting premature curing in injection molding compositions having the formula:
- R.sub.1 O.sub.2 C--CH.dbd.CH--CO.sub.2 R.sub.2
- wherein R.sub.1 is an organic moiety containing at least two carbon atoms triply bonded one to the ther as:
- --C.tbd.C--
- and R.sub.2 is an organic moiety or R.sub.1.
- 2. A compound useful for inhibiting premature curing in injection molding compositions having the formula:
- R.sub.1 O.sub.2 C--CH.dbd.CH--CO.sub.2 R.sub.2
- wherein R.sub.1 has the formula:
- --R.sub.3 --C.tbd.C--R.sub.4
- wherein R.sub.3 is selected from the group of divalent hydrocarbon radicals consisting of linear or branched alkyl radicals, linear or branched alkenyl radicals, linear or branched alkynyl radicals, cycloalklyl radicals, cycloalkenyl radicals, cycloalkynyl radicals, halogenated linear or branched alkyl radicals, halogenated linear or branched alkenyl radicals, halogenated linear or branched alkynyl radicals, hydrocarbonoxy radicals containing at least two carbon atoms, halogenated hydrocarbonoxy radicals containing at least two carbon atoms, aryl radicals, linear or branched alkyl aryl radicals, halogenated aryl radicals, halogenated linear or branched alkyl-, alkenyl-,or alkynyl aryl radicals; and wherein R4 is selected from the group of monovalent radicals consisting of hydrogen, linear or branched alkyl radicals, linear or branched alkenyl radicals, linear or branched alkynyl radicals, cycloalklyl radical, cycloalkenyl radicals, cycloalkynyl radicals, halogenated linear or branched alkyl radicals, halogenated linear or branched alkenyl radicals, halogenated linear or branched alkynyl radicals, hydrocarbonoxy radicals containing at least two carbon atoms, halogenated hydrocarbonoxy radicals containing at least two carbon atoms, aryl radicals, linear or branched alkyl aryl radicals, halogenated aryl radicals, halogenated linear or branched alkyl-, alkenyl-, or alkynyl aryl radicals; and triorganosilyl radicals and wherein R.sub.2 is R.sub.1 or selected from the group consisting of triorganosilyl radicals, and siloxanes.
- 3. A compound useful for inhibiting premature curing in injection molding compositions having the formula:
- R.sub.1 O.sub.2 C--CH.dbd.CH--CO.sub.2 R.sub.2
- wherein R.sub.1 has the formula:
- --R.sub.3 --C.tbd.C--R.sub.4
- wherein R.sub.3 is selected from the group of divalent hydrocarbon radicals consisting of linear or branched alkyl radicals having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, linear or branched alkenyl radicals having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, linear or branched alkynyl radicals having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, cycloalklyl radicals having from 3 to about 12 carbon atoms, cycloalkenyl radicals having from about 3 to 12 carbon atoms, cycloalkynyl radicals having from about 8 to about 16 carbon atoms, fluorinated linear or branched alkyl radicals having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, chlorinated linear or branched alkyl radicals having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, brominated linear or branched alkyl radicals having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, fluorinated linear or branched alkenyl radicals having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, chlorinated linear or branched alkenyl radicals having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, brominated linear or branched alkenyl radicals having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, fluorinated linear or branched alkynyl radicals having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, chlorinated linear or branched alkynyl radicals having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, brominated linear or branched alkynyl radicals having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, hydrocarbonoxy radicals containing at least two carbon atoms, fluorinated hydrocarbonoxy radicals containing at least two carbon atoms, chlorinated hydrocarbonoxy radicals containing at least two carbon atoms, brominated hydrocarbonoxy radicals containing at least two carbon atoms, aryl radicals, linear or branched alkyl aryl radicals, fluorinated aryl radicals, chlorinated aryl radicals, brominated aryl radicals; fluorinated linear or branched alkyl-, alkenyl-,or alkynyl aryl radicals; chlorinated linear or branched alkyl-, alkenyl-, or alkynyl aryl radicals; and brominated linear or branched alkyl-, alkenyl-, or alkynyl aryl radicals; and wherein R4 is selected from the group of monovalent radicals consisting of hydrogen, linear or branched alkyl radicals having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, linear or branched alkenyl radicals having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, linear or branched alkynyl radicals having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, cycloalklyl radicals having from 3 to about 12 carbon atoms, cycloalkenyl radicals having from about 3 to 12 carbon atoms, cycloalkynyl radicals having from about 8 to about 16 carbon atoms, fluorinated linear or branched alkyl radicals having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, chlorinated linear or branched alkyl radicals having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, brominated linear or branched alkyl radicals having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, fluorinated linear or branched alkenyl radicals having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, chlorinated linear or branched alkenyl radicals having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, brominated linear or branched alkenyl radicals having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, fluorinated linear or branched alkynyl radicals having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, chlorinated linear or branched alkynyl radicals having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, brominated linear or branched alkynyl radicals having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, hydrocarbonoxy radicals containing at least two carbon atoms, fluorinated hydrocarbonoxy radicals containing at least two carbon atoms, chlorinated hydrocarbonoxy radicals containing at least two carbon atoms, brominated hydrocarbonoxy radicals containing at least two carbon atoms aryl radicals, linear or branched alkyl aryl radicals, fluorinated aryl radicals, chlorinated aryl radicals, brominated aryl radicals; fluorinated linear or branched alkyl-, alkenyl-,or alkynyl aryl radicals; chlorinated linear or branched alkyl-, alkenyl-, or alkynyl aryl radicals; brominated linear or branched alkyl-, alkenyl-, or alkynyl aryl radicals; and triorganosilyl radicals and wherein R.sub.2 is R.sub.1 or selected from the group consisting of triorganosilyl radicals, and siloxanes.
- 4. A mixture of liquid injection molding inhibitor compounds comprising the compound of claim 1.
- 5. A liquid composition for injection into a liquid injection molding apparatus comprising a polymerizable or curable resin and an effective amount of a mixture of liquid injection molding inhibitor compounds comprising the compound of claim 1.
- 6. An injection molded composition comprising a polymerizable or curable resin or a mixture thereof and an effective amount of the injection molding inhibitor compound of claim 1.
- 7. An injection molded composition comprising a polymerizable or curable resin or mixture of resins and an effective amount of the mixture of injection molding inhibitor compounds of claim 4.
- 8. A process for stabilizing a moldable and polymerizable or curable resin or mixtures thereof comprising selecting one or more compounds, oligomers, resins or fluids from the group consisting of MT, MDT, MDQ, MTQ, MDTQ, and MQ polyorganosiloxanes and contacting said selected polyorganosiloxanes with the liquid injection molding inhibitor compound of claim 1.
- 9. A process for stabilizing a moldable and polymerizable or curable resin or mixtures thereof comprising selecting one or more compounds, oligomers, resins, or fluids from the group consisting of MT, MDT, MDQ, MTQ, MDTQ, and MQ polyorganosiloxanes and contacting said selected polyorganosiloxanes with the mixture of the liquid injection molding inhibitor compounds of claim 4.
- 10. A process for producing articles of manufacture using liquid injection molding means comprising the steps of:
- a) contacting the liquid injection molding inhibitor compound of claim 1 with
- b) a curable resin or mixture thereof, creating thereby a mixture of said liquid injection molding inhibitor compound of claim 1 in said curable resin; and
- c) injecting said mixture into a liquid injection molding apparatus; and
- d) curing said mixture into an article of manufacture.
- 11. An injection molded article of manufacture produced by the process of claim 10.
- 12. A process for producing articles of manufacture using liquid injection molding means comprising the steps of:
- a) contacting the mixture of liquid injection molding inhibitor compounds of claim 4 with
- b) a curable resin or mixture thereof, creating thereby a mixture of said liquid injection molding inhibitor compounds of claim 4 in said curable resin; and
- c) injecting said mixture into a liquid injection molding apparatus; and
- d) curing said mixture into an article of manufacture.
- 13. An injection molded article of manufacture produced by the process of claim 12.
- 14. An injection molded article of manufacture prepared from a curable resin mixture comprising a curable resin and the injection molding inhibitor compound of claim 1.
- 15. A process for controlling the period of time that a liquid injection molding resin or mixtures thereof is inhibited from curing comprising;
- (a) selecting one or more of the liquid injection molding inhibitor compounds of claim 1;
- (b) contacting said liquid injection molding inhibitor compound of part (a) with a second liquid injection molding inhibitor compound or mixtures thereof having a shorter inhibition time than the injection molding inhibitor compound of claim 1; and
- (c) contacting the mixture of liquid injection molding inhibitors comprising the inhibitor compounds of parts (a) and (b) with a liquid injection molding resin or mixture thereof.
- 16. A polymer in polymerized or cured form comprising as the starting materials a polymerizable or curable resin or mixtures thereof and the liquid injection molding inhibitor compound of claim 1 or mixtures thereof.
- 17. The compound of claim 1 where R.sub.2 is an organic moiety containing at least two carbon atoms triply bonded one to the other as:
- --C.tbd.C--
- or R.sub.1.
