Claims
- 1. A process for preparing a liquid oxidatively modified ethylenic random copolymer comprising:
- contacting a liquid ethylenic random copolymer comprising 20 to 80 mol % of ethylene and 80 to 20 mol % of .alpha.-olefin and having a number average molecular weight (Mn) in the range of from 200 to 10,000 as measured by a vapor pressure osmometer, and a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) given as weight average molecular weight (Mw) divided by number average molecular weight (Mn) in the range of up to 4 as measured by gel permeation chromatography with a gas containing molecular oxygen, ozone or a mixture thereof at a temperature of from 100.degree. to 250.degree. C. to oxidize the copolymer until an oxygen content in the range of from 0.1 to 20% by weight is reached.
