Claims
- 1. A method for manufacturing a liquid shield to protect the eyes of a wearer, comprising the steps of:
- forming a mask dimensioned to fit over the mouth and nose of a wearer;
- fixing a malleable strip along an upper edge of said mask;
- fixing a plastic visor to the mask only at extreme ends of the mask and the visor to extend over and protect the eyes of the wearer from liquids directed at the eyes from exterior said visor; and
- forming a cutout proximate the center of the visor adjacent the mask to facilitate the gradual and approximate conformance of the visor to the face of the wearer and to reduce the likelihood of reflections, said step of forming a cutout comprises forming a notch including a slot and an enlarged portion at the upper end of the slot.
- 2. The method of claim 1, further comprising the step of forming gradually sloping arcuate edges at ends opposite said notch of said visor.
- 3. A method for manufacturing a liquid shield to protect the eyes, nose and mouth of a wearer, comprising the steps of:
- forming a mask dimensioned to fit over the mouth and nose of a wearer;
- fixing a plastic visor to said mask at the extreme ends of the mask and the visor to extend over and protect the eyes of the wearer from liquids directed at the eyes from the exterior of the visor and such that the mask is partially positioned between the face of the wearer and the visor; and
- forming a cutout approximately at the center of the visor adjacent the mask to facilitate the gradual and approximate conformance of the visor to the face of the wearer and to reduce the likelihood of reflections, said step of forming a cutout comprises forming a notch comprising a slot and an enlarged portion at the upper end of the slot.
- 4. A liquid shield to protect the eyes, nose and mouth of a wearer, comprising:
- a fluid impervious transparent visor for being affixed over the eyes of the wearer to protect the eyes from liquid directed from exterior said visor;
- a notch in a lower portion of said visor to allow said visor to gradually bend and approximately conform to the face of the wearer without causing creasing of said visor;
- a gas pervious but liquid impervious mask including a malleable strip along an upper edge of said mask for protecting the nose and the mouth of the wearer;
- said mask being connected to said visor only at extreme end corners of said mask and said visor;
- said visor and said visor separately conforming to the face of the wearer, said mask being partially located between the face of the wearer and said visor; and
- said notch comprising a slot with an enlarged portion at the upper end of said slot.
- 5. A disposable liquid shield, comprising:
- a liquid impervious visor dimensioned to cover the eyes of a wearer;
- a gas pervious mask dimensioned to fit over the mouth and nose of the wearer, said mask resistant to the passage of liquids from exterior said mask and connected to said visor only at opposite ends thereof;
- a malleable strip along an upper edge of said mask;
- said mask and said visor separately conforming to the face of the wearer;
- a face conforming notch formed in the lower portion of said visor allowing said mask and said visor to gradually and approximately conform to contours around the wearers' nose without creasing said visor; and
- said notch comprising a slot and an enlarged portion at the upper end of said slot.
