- 10. The localization apparatus of claim 1, wherein the depth guide comprises a proximal depth slide and a distal depth slide, the distal depth slide selectably movable with respect to proximal depth slide to reduce outward projection.
- 11. The localization apparatus of claim 10, wherein the distal depth is selectably pivotal with respect to the proximal depth slide to reduce outward projection.
- 12. The localization apparatus of claim 1, further comprising a Y-axis alignment mechanism configured to provide a mechanical advantage to the depth guide along the Y-axis.
- 13. A localization apparatus for use in a medical compression apparatus for positioning a biopsy probe for a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)-guide core biopsy procedure, comprising:
a compression plate formed of an MRI compatible material and containing a plurality of apertures; a mounting device formed of an MRI compatible material and configured to engageably receive the biopsy probe and including alignment positioning guides to orient the biopsy probe with respect to the plate; and a fiducial marker coupled to the compression plate and operable to create an artifact in a MRI scan.
- 14. The localization apparatus of claim 13, further comprising a fiducial marker holder configured to contain the fiducial marker and to engageably couple to the plurality of apertures of the compression plate.
- 15. The localization apparatus of claim 13, wherein the compression plate includes a fiducial marker recess for holding the fiducial marker.
