Claims
- 1. A lock picking apparatus for a key operated lock, said lock picking apparatus to cause opening of the lock without using a key, the lock having a keyway with the key to cause a series of lock pins contained within the lock to be positioned at a shear line which will permit the lock to be opened, said lock picking apparatus comprising:
- an elongated blade adapted to enter the keyway, said elongated blade including at least one deflectable member, said deflectable member comprising a plurality of bristles of a brush that are arranged into a tuft, said tuft to deflect during the reciprocating movement of said blade within the keyway due to said tuft contacting the lock pins, whereby moving of said tuft back-and-forth across the lock pins will eventually cause each of the lock pins to be located at the shear line permitting opening of the lock.
- 2. The lock picking apparatus as defined in claim 1 wherein:
- there being a plurality of said tufts located in a spaced-apart arrangement on said elongated blade.
- 3. The lock picking apparatus as defined in claim 1 wherein:
- said elongated blade being in the shape of a key.
- 4. The lock picking apparatus as defined in claim 1 wherein:
- said tuft contacting said lock pins off center to also cause said lock pins to pivot.
- 5. A lock picking apparatus designed for use with a key operated lock, said lock picking apparatus to cause opening of the lock without using a key, the lock having a keyway with the key to cause a series of lock pins contained within the lock to be positioned at a shear line which will permit the lock to be opened, said lock picking apparatus comprising:
- an elongated blade adapted to enter the keyway, said elongated blade including a brush, said brush comprising a mass of deflectable bristles, said bristles to be sufficiently rigid to cause a said lock pin to move when said brush is moved against a said lock pin, however upon a said lock pin located in said predetermined aligned relationship relative to said shear line said bristles are to deflect when passing said lock pin not causing said lock pin to move.
- 6. A lock picking apparatus designed for use with a lock which has a plurality of separate lock pins, said lock having a keyway, said lock pins residing in said keyway, said lock having a shear line, upon said lock pins being aligned with said shear line in a predetermined aligned relationship said lock is openable, said lock picking apparatus comprising:
- a thin, elongated blade, said blade having a hiatused surface, said hiatused surface is adapted to be temporarily located within said keyway with said hiatused surface to sequentially directly contact said lock pins causing said lock pins to be sequentially located at said predetermined aligned relationship with said shear line, said hiatused surface comprising a brush, said brush comprising a mass of deflectable bristles, said bristles to be sufficiently rigid to cause a said lock pin to move when said brush is moved against a said lock pin which is not located at said predetermined aligned relationship, however upon a said lock pin being located in said predetermined aligned relationship relative to said shear line said bristles are to deflect when passing said lock pin not causing said lock pin to move.
