Claims
- 1. A security storage container for holding an item of recorded media; the container comprising:
a box having a base and a lid connected to the base with a living hinge; the lid movable between open and closed positions; the base being adapted to hold an item of recorded media; the base having a bottom wall, a front wall, a rear wall, and a pair of sidewalls extending between the front wall and the rear wall; the lid being connected to the rear Wall of the base; the box defining a lock reception cavity; the front wall of the base defining the rear of the lock reception cavity; a lock having a first lock member; the lock being lockable to the box to lock the lid in the closed position; and a substantial portion of the lock being disposed in the lock reception cavity when the lock is locked to the box to lock the lid in the closed position.
- 2. The container of claim 1, wherein the rear wall of the base is connected to the bottom wall of the base with a living hinge.
- 3. The container of claim 1, wherein the bottom wall of the base defines a portion of the lock reception cavity and a portion of the lid defines a portion of the lock reception cavity.
- 4. The container of claim 3, further comprising a pair of protection ribs connected to the front wall of the base; the pair of protection ribs defining a portion of the lock reception cavity.
- 5. A security storage container for holding an item of recorded media; the container comprising:
a box having a base and a lid connected to the base with a hinge; the box having a front and a rear, the rear of the box being defined by the hinge that connects the lid to the base; the front of the box being opposite of the hinge; the lid movable between open and closed positions; the base being adapted to hold an item of recorded media; the front of the box defining a lock reception cavity; the base and lid defining openings that are aligned when the lid is closed; a lock having a body and a first lock member extending from the body; the lock also having a first lock finger; the first lock finger being movable between locked and unlocked positions; the lock being lockable to the box to lock the lid in the closed position with the first lock member of the lock being disposed in the aligned openings of the base and lid; the first lock finger of the lock engaging the box to hold the lock to the box; and a substantial portion of the body of the lock being disposed in the lock reception cavity when the lock is locked to the box to lock the lid in the closed position.
- 6. The container of claim 5, wherein the first lock finger extends from the body of the lock in a location spaced from the first lock member.
- 7. The container of claim 5, wherein the first lock finger is magnetically-movable from the locked position to the unlocked position.
- 8. The container of claim 7, wherein the first lock finger is biased to the locked position.
- 9. The container of claim 8, wherein the first lock finger pivots between the locked and unlocked positions.
- 10. The container of claim 5, wherein the base of the box includes a front wall that defines a portion of the lock reception cavity.
- 11. The container of claim 10, wherein the lid defines a portion of the lock reception cavity.
- 12. The container of claim 11, further comprising a pair of protection ribs connected to the front wall of the base; the pair of protection ribs defining a portion of the lock reception cavity.
- 13. The container of claim 5, further comprising an EAS tag carried by the lock.
- 14. The container of claim 5, wherein the base includes a front wall and the lid includes a front wall; the front walls of the base and lid defining the aligned openings that receive the lock member when the lock is locked to the box.
- 15. The container of claim 5, wherein the lock includes a second lock finger; the second lock finger being movable between locked and unlocked positions; the second lock finger moving a direction opposite the first lock finger; and the second lock finger of the lock engaging the box to hold the lock to the box.
- 16. The container of claim 5, wherein the base of the box includes a front wall that defines a portion of the lock reception cavity; the lid including a tab that is disposed behind the front wall of the base when the lid is closed; the front wall of the base and the tab of the lid defining the aligned openings.
- 17. A security storage container for holding an item of recorded media; the container comprising:
a box having a base and a lid connected to the base with a living hinge; the lid movable between open and closed positions; the base being adapted to hold an item of recorded media; the base having a bottom wall, a front wall, a rear wall, and a pair of sidewalls extending between the front wall and the rear wall; the lid being connected to the rear wall of the base; the box defining a lock reception cavity; the front wall of the base having an inner surface and an outer surface; the outer surface of the front wall of the base defining the rear of the lock reception cavity; the front wall of the base defining an opening and the lid defining an opening that is aligned with the opening of the front wall of the base when the lid is closed; a lock having a portion disposed in the aligned openings of the lid and base to lock the lid in the closed position; a substantial portion of the lock being disposed in the lock reception cavity when the lock is locking the lid in the closed position; the lock having a pair of lock fingers that lock the lock to the box; the lock fingers engaging the inner surface of the front wall of the base to lock the lock to the box; each of the lock fingers pivotable between locked and unlocked positions; and a key having a key shank for each of the lock fingers; each key shank movable into the lock to engage the lock finger and pivot the lock finger from the locked position to the unlocked position.
- 18. The container of claim 17, wherein the lock includes two pairs of lock fingers.
