Claims
- 1. A lockable media storage container comprising:a base having a device adapted to hold an item of recorded media; a lid hingedly connected to the base with a hinge; the base and lid cooperating to define a storage chamber; a lock slide slidably carried by the base and moveable between unlocked and locked positions; the lock slide being disposed in the storage chamber when in the locked position; the lock slide engaging the lid in the locked position to lock the lid closed; at least one lock finger adapted to lock the lock slide in the locked position; the at least one locking finger pivoting between locked and unlocked positions; the position of the at least one lock finger being fixed with respect to the base when the lock slide is moved from the locked position to the unlocked position; and the at least one locking finger adapted to automatically pivot to the locked position when the lock slide is slid to the locked position.
- 2. The container of claim 1, wherein the lock slide is carried by the base when the lock slide is in both the locked and unlocked positions.
- 3. The container of claim 1, wherein the lock slide is enclosed by the lid and base when the lock slide is in both the locked and unlocked positions.
- 4. A lockable media storage container comprising:a base; a lid hingedly connected to the base with a hinge; a lock slide slidably carried by the base and moveable between unlocked and locked positions; the lock slide engaging the lid in the locked position to lock the lid closed; at least one lock finger adapted to lock the lock slide in the locked position; the at least one locking finger pivoting between locked and unlocked positions; the at least one locking finger adapted to automatically pivot to the locked position when the lock slide is slid to the locked position; and the lid defining at least one lock hole and the base defining at least one lock hole; the lock holes of the lid and base being aligned when the lid is in the closed position; the lock slide being aligned with the lock holes.
- 5. The container of claim 4, wherein the lid and base include sidewalls and a front wall; the lock holes of the lid and base being defined by the front walls of the lid and base.
- 6. The container of claim 5, wherein the front walls of the lid and base include tabs that define the lock holes; each lock hole having a centerline disposed normal to the plane in which the hole is disposed; the centerlines being substantially perpendicular to the sidewalls of the lid and base when the lid is in the closed position.
- 7. The container of claim 6, wherein the lock slide is slidably carried by the base on the front wall of the base.
- 8. A lockable media storage container, comprising:a base; a lid hingedly connected to the base with a hinge; a lock slide slidably carried by the base and moveable between unlocked and locked positions; the lock slide engaging the lid in the locked position to lock the lid closed; at least one locking finger adapted to lock the slide in the locked position; the lid defining at least one lock hole and the base defining at least one lock hole; the lock holes of the lid and base being aligned when the lid is in the closed position; the lock slide being aligned with the lock holes; the lid and base including sidewalls and a front wall; the lock holes of the lid and base being defined by the front walls of the lid and base; the front walls of the lid and base including tabs that define the lock holes; the centerline of the lock holes normal to the plane defined by the hole being substantially perpendicular to the sidewalls of the lid and base when the lid is in the closed position; the lock slide being slidably carried by the base on the front wall of the base; and the lock slide including a pair of individually-moveable bodies.
- 9. The container of claim 8, wherein the lock slide includes a pair of lock pins disposed on opposite sides of the front wall of the base.
- 10. The container of claim 1, wherein the lock slide does not protrude out of the base when in the locked and unlocked positions.
- 11. A lockable media storage container for holding an item of recorded media; the storage container comprising:a base; a holder connected to the base; the holder adapted to hold the item of recorded media to the base; a lid hingedly connected to the base with a hinge; the lid being moveable between open and closed positions; at least one literature clip connected to the lid; the literature clip adapted to hold printed literature in the lid; a lock slide slidably carried by the base and moveable between locked and unlocked positions; and the lock slide engaging the literature clip when the lock slide is in the locked position to hold the lid in the closed position.
- 12. The container of claim 11, wherein the base includes a bottom wall having an inner surface; the lock slide being disposed adjacent the inner surface.
- 13. The container of claim 12, further comprising a magnetically-actuated locking finger adapted to lock the lock slide in the locked position.
- 14. The container of claim 13, wherein the base includes a bottom wall; the locking finger disposed between the bottom wall and the lock slide.
- 15. The container of claim 13, further comprising a mechanically-actuated locking finger adapted to lock the lock slide in the locked position.
- 16. The container of claim 15, wherein the base includes a front wall; the locking finger disposed between the front wall and the lock slide.
- 17. The container of claim 11, wherein the base includes a bottom wall having an outer surface; the lock slide being disposed adjacent the outer surface of the bottom wall.
- 18. The container of claim 11, wherein the base includes a bottom wall and a housing extending up from the bottom wall; the lock slide being disposed in the housing.
- 19. The container of claim 18, wherein the bottom wall has an outer surface and the lock slide has a lower surface; the lower surface of the lock slide being substantially coplanar with the outer surface of the bottom wall of the base.
- 20. The container of claim 18, wherein the housing defines an opening that receives a portion of the at least one literature clip when the lid is in the closed position.
- 21. A lockable media storage container for holding an item of recorded media; the storage container comprising:a base; holder means connected to the base for holding an item of recorded media to the base; a lid hingedly connected to the base between open and closed positions; retaining means for holding literature booklets to the lid; lock means carried by the base for locking the lid in the closed position; the lock means moveable between unlocked and locked positions; and the lock means engaging the retaining means when the lock means is in the locked position.
- 22. A lockable media storage container comprising:a base having a bottom wall that defines an outer surface; the base defining a chamber; a lid hingedly connected to the base with a hinge; a lock slide slidably carried by the base and moveable between unlocked and locked positions; the lock slide engaging the lid in the locked position to lock the lid closed; at least one lock finger adapted to lock the lock slide in the locked position; and the lock slide being disposed adjacent the outer surface of the bottom wall of the base such that the bottom wall of the base is disposed between the lock slide and the chamber of the base; no portion of the lock slide extending across the front of the base.
- 23. The container of claim 22, wherein the base includes a housing extending up from the bottom wall of the base; the lock slide being disposed in the housing.
- 24. A lockable media storage container comprising:a base having a bottom wall that defines an outer surface; the base defining a chamber; a lid hingedly connected to the base with a hinge; a lock slide slidably carried by the base and moveable between unlocked and locked positions; the lock slide engaging the lid in the locked position to lock the lid closed; at least one lock finger adapted to lock the lock slide in the locked position; the lock slide being disposed adjacent the outer surface of the bottom wall of the base such that the bottom wall of the base is disposed between the lock slide and the chamber of the base; the base including a housing extending up from the bottom wall of the base; the lock slide being disposed in the housing; and the lock slide having a lower surface; the lower surface of the lock slide being substantially coplanar with the outer surface of the bottom wall of the base.
- 25. A lockable media storage container comprising:a base having a bottom wall that defines an outer surface; the base defining a chamber; a lid hingedly connected to the base with a hinge; a lock slide slidably carried by the base and moveable between unlocked and locked positions; the lock slide engaging the lid in the locked position to lock the lid closed; at least one lock finger adapted to lock the lock slide in the locked position; the lock slide being disposed adjacent the outer surface of the bottom wall of the base such that the bottom wall of the base is disposed between the lock slide and the chamber of the base; and a portion of the lid extending through the bottom wall of the base; the portion of the lid extending through the bottom wall being engaged by the lock slide when the lock slide is in the locked position.
- 26. The container of claim 25, wherein the lid includes literature clips; the portions of the lid that extend through the bottom wall of the base being connected to the literature clips.
- 27. The container of claim 21, further comprising a magnetically-actuated locking finger adapted to lock the lock means in the locked position.
- 28. The container of claim 27, wherein the base includes a bottom wall; the locking finger being disposed between the bottom wall and the lock means.
- 29. The container of claim 21, further comprising a mechanically-actuated locking finger adapted to lock the lock means in the locked position.
- 30. The container of claim 29, wherein the base includes a front wall; the locking finger being disposed between the front wall and the lock means.
- 31. The container of claim 8, wherein the lock finger is magnetically actuated.
- 32. The container of claim 31, wherein the lock finger pivots.
- 33. The container of claim 8, wherein the lock finger is mechanically actuated.
- 34. The container of claim 33, wherein the lock finger pivots.
- 35. The container of claim 8, wherein the individually-movable bodies move in opposite directions when moving from an unlocked position to a locked position.
- 36. A lockable media storage container, comprising:a base adapted to hold an item of recorded media; a lid hingedly connected to the base with a hinge; a lock slide slidably carried by the base and moveable between unlocked and locked positions; the lock slide including two individually-movable members; and the members engaging the lid in the locked position to lock the lid closed; at least one locking finger adapted to lock each member in the locked position.
- 37. The container of claim 36, wherein each of the lid and base includes sidewalls and a front wall; the lock slide being slidably carried by the base on the front wall of the base.
- 38. The container of claim 37, wherein a lock finger is disposed between each member and the front wall of the base.
- 39. The container of claim 36, wherein base and lid define a front surface; the base and lid cooperate to define an indented cavity in the front surface; the lock slide being positioned at least partially in the indented cavity.
- 40. The container of claim 36, wherein a connector initially holds the members together in an unlocked position; the connected being broken when the members of the lock slide are moved to the locked position.
- 41. The container of claim 4, wherein the lock slide remains disposed between the base and lid when the lock slide is in the locked and unlocked positions.
- 42. The container of claim 1, wherein the lock finger is magnetically-actuated from the locked position to the unlocked position.
- 43. The container of claim 1, further comprising a mechanically-actuated locking finger adapted to lock the lock means in the locked position.
- 44. The container of claim 43, wherein the base includes a front wall; the locking finger being disposed between the front wall and the lock means.
