This invention relates to towels and more particularly to a towel having an extension with an aperture proximate the top thereof through which the remainder of the towel can be pulled through around a bar or similar fixture to secure the towel in a visible and easily accessible location.
Towels are an essential item in everyday use by everyone. Fishermen use towels to clean messy and dirty hands while fishing. Athletes use towels to wipe away sweat. Homemakers use towels to dry off and clean hands. Unfortunately quite often when a towel is needed it cannot be found or is not quickly accessible because it has been thrown somewhere. Then if and when found it may be crumpled and wet as it was not exposed to air so it could dry in between uses.
Thus, a need exists for a towel that can be readily affixed to a bar or similar fixture so it can be easily located for use and can be exposed to ambient air so it may dry between uses.
Some towels have been modified by adding sewn on extensions with buttons or other items to secure the towel in place but none with a towel having the same structure that needs no modification to secure it in place.
Applicant is aware of the following references, but none disclose a towel having the same structure as the present invention:
The primary object of the present invention is to provide a towel that can be easily and quickly affixed to a bar or similar object.
Another object of the present invention is to provide such a towel that is exposed to ambient conditions for drying between uses.
An additional object of the present invention is to provide a towel that does not need modification or additional items to secure it in place.
The present invention fulfills the above and other objects by providing an article of manufacture being a towel having a body a bottom, a top, sides, a front and a back and an extension on the top of the towel, said extension having an aperture proximate a top of the extension. The aperture is of sufficient width to allow the body of the towel to be pulled through the aperture.
A method of using the towel involves wrapping the extension of the towel around an elongated object, such as a bar, inserting the body of the towel starting with the bottom through the aperture and pulling the body of the towel through the aperture until it is securely affixed to the elongated object.

The dimensions of the body 11 of the towel 1 are not critical, the width of the aperture 6 must be sufficient to allow the towel body 11 to be pulled through the aperture 6 when the towel is attached around a bar of other item. The wider the body of the towel 1 the wider must be the aperture. In trials it has been found that an aperture of four (4) inches in width can accommodate a towel having a body 11 of fourteen (14) inches in width.
It is to be understood that while a preferred embodiment of the invention is described, it is not to be limited to the specific form or arrangement of parts herein described and shown. It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various changes may be made without departing from the scope of the invention and the invention is not to be considered limited to what is shown and described in the specification and/or drawings.
