Claims
- 1. A single mode optical waveguide fiber comprising a dispersion zero wavelength which is >1575 nm; a dispersion slope which is <.1 ps/nm2-km; a mode field diameter >7.9 and having a refractive index profile having at least three segments having refractive index Δ1, Δ2, and Δ3, wherein Δ1 is >Δ3 is >Δ2 and the refractive index profile of the core is selcted to result in an attenuation which is <.203 db/km, at 1550 nm.
- 2. The single mode optical waveguide fiber of claim 1 wherein attenuation at 1550 nm is less than or equal to 0.19 dB/km.
