Claims
- 1. A chemical sensor comprising:a laminated structure comprising a plurality of layers of sensing material and a plurality of layers of conductive material, wherein the plurality of layers of sensing material alternate with the plurality of layers of conductive material, and wherein the sensing material of each of the plurality of layers of sensing material is selected to exhibit a change in an electrical property when exposed to carbon monoxide.
- 2. The sensor of claim 1 wherein the sum total of the layers of sensing material and the layers of conductive material of the laminated structure comprises at least 3 layers.
- 3. The sensor of claim 1 wherein at least a portion of the layers of the sensing material are exposed to an environment surrounding the sensor.
- 4. The sensor of claim 3 wherein the layers of the sensing material interact with the environment causing an electrical response that is measured using the plurality of layers of conductive material.
- 5. The chemical sensor of claim 1 wherein the sensing material comprises a layer that is less than 10 microns.
- 6. The chemical sensor of claim 1 wherein the sensing material comprises a layer that is less than 1 microns.
- 7. The chemical sensor of claim 1 wherein the sum total of the layers of sensing material and the layers of conductive material of the laminated structure comprises at least 5 alternating layers.
- 8. A chemical sensor comprising:a laminated structure comprising layers of sensing material and conductive material, wherein the sensing material physically interacts carbon monoxide to provide a change in the sensing material's properties, and the laminated structure is arranged such that the change in the sensing material's properties are detectable using the layers of conductive material.
