Claims
- 1. Surface active compound of the formula: ##STR10## wherein R is selected from the group consisting of alkyl, aryl, alkylaryl groups of 4-18 carbons and alkoxymethylene wherein the alkoxy group is of 4-18 carbon atoms,
- R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are individually selected from the group consisting of methyl; alkyl of 5 to 6 carbon atoms wherein said alkyl group is substituted by an electron-donating group selected from the group consisting of OH, SH, CH.sub.3 O and CH.sub.3 S on the beta carbon atoms thereof; polyoxyethylene and polyoxypropylene or R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 may jointly form a CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 OCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 or CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 SCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 groups so as to form, together with the nitrogen atom to which they are bound, a morpholine or thiomorpholine ring, M is hydrogen or an alkali metal cation; X is hydrogen or an electron-donating group selected from the group consisting of OH, SH, CH.sub.3 O and CH.sub.3 S.
- 2. A surface active compound according to claim 1 wherein R.sup.2 is methyl.
- 3. A surface active compound according to claim 1 wherein R.sup.3 is methyl.
- 4. A surface active compound according to claim 1 wherein both R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are methyl.
- 5. A surface active compound according to claim 4 wherein R is an alkyl group containing from 4-14 carbon atoms.
- 6. A surface active compound according to claim 5 wherein R is alkoxy methylene of 4-8 carbon atoms in the alkoxy group.
- 7. A compound according to claim 1 ##STR11##

- 9. A compound according to claim 1 ##STR13##
- 10. A compound according to claim 1 ##STR14##
- 11. A compound according to claim 1 ##STR15## wherein R represents a mixture of lauryl and myristyl groups.
