Claims
- 1. A method of making a wear resistant heat conducting slide bearing surface element comprising the steps of providing a mold, molding an epoxy resin into the shape of the element, gelling and post curing the epoxy resin, removing a surface portion of the cured epoxy resin, preparing a mixture of uncured epoxy resin with particles of aluminum oxide, coating the element with the mixture thereby replacing the surface portion that was removed, placing the element with the coating into the mold, gelling the coating and post curing the same to form a composite coating on the element.
- 2. A method according to claim 1, including embedding glass fibers in the cured epoxy element before it is cured in a selected orientation.
- 3. A method according to claim 2, including embedding the glassfibers substantially in orientation with a trabacular structure of an extremity for receiving the structure to form a portion of a prosthetic device.
- 4. A method according to claim 2, including adding to the mixture of uncured epoxy resin with particles of aluminum oxide, particles of one of copper and stainless steel.
- 5. A method according to claim 1 including adding to said mixture uncured epoxy resin with particles of aluminum oxide, one of aluminum and stainless steel, there being 230 parts by weight epoxy resin to 1 to 5 parts by weight aluminum oxide, and 0 to 10 parts by weight of copper or stainless steel.
