Claims
- 1. A method of providing fluid flow from at least one influent port on a catheter, through a lumen in the catheter and out at least one effluent port on the catheter, said method comprising the steps of:
- providing a catheter of the type having an elongate, flexible, tubular body, at least one influent port on the tubular body and at least one effluent port on the tubular body, said influent and effluent ports in fluid communication with each other by way of a central lumen extending through the body;
- positioning the catheter within a body lumen having a fluid therein;
- expanding the interior diameter of at least a portion of the central lumen from a first, collapsed diameter to a second, enlarged diameter; and
- permitting fluid to enter said influent port, travel through said central lumen and exit said effluent port.
