Claims
- 1. A concentrate lubricant composition comprising:
a) a fatty acid; b) a polyalkylene glycol polymer; and c) an anionic surfactant; wherein the concentrate lubricant composition maintains lubricity in the presence of an acidic substance.
- 2. The composition of claim 1, wherein
a) the fatty acid is present from about 0.1 to about 50 wt. % of the total weight; b) the polyalkylene glycol polymer is present from about 1 to about 50 wt. % of the total weight; and c) the anionic surfactant is present from about 0.5 to about 50 wt. % of the total weight.
- 3. The composition of claim 1, wherein the fatty acid comprises a C8-C20 fatty acid.
- 4. The composition of claim 3, wherein the fatty acid comprises oleic acid, tall oil, or coco fatty acid.
- 5. The composition of claim 1, wherein the polyalkylene glycol polymer comprises a homopolymer.
- 6. The composition of claim 1, wherein the polyalkylene glycol polymer comprises a copolymer of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide.
- 7. The composition of claim 1, wherein the polyalkylene glycol polymer comprises a block copolymer.
- 8. The composition of claim 1, wherein the composition further comprises an additional functional ingredient.
- 9. The composition of claim 8, wherein the additional functional ingredient comprises a surfactant, a neutralizing agent, a stabilizing agent, a coupling agent, a dispersing agent, an antiwear agent, an antimicrobial agent, a foam inhibitor, a foam generator, a viscosity modifier, a sequestrant, a chelating agent, a biofilm reducing agent, a dye, an anticorrosion agent, an antistatic agent, an oderant, a secondary lubricant, or mixtures thereof.
- 10. The composition of claim 1, wherein the composition can be safely consumed by humans or mammals.
- 11. The composition of claim 1, wherein the anionic surfactant comprises sulfates, sulfonates, sulfosuccinates, sulfosuccinamates, sulfonated esters, sulfonated amides, phosphate esters, anionic carboxylates, or mixtures thereof.
- 12. The composition of claim 11, wherein the anionic surfactant comprises dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate, sodium linear alkylnaphaline sulfonate, sodium lauryl sulfate, or mixtures thereof.
- 13. The composition of claim 1, further comprising a solvent.
- 14. The composition of claim 13, wherein the solvent comprises water, an alcohol, or a polyol.
- 15. The composition of claim 1, wherein the composition is a solid.
- 16. The composition of claim 1, wherein the composition is a paste.
- 17. The composition of claim 1, wherein the composition is a liquid.
- 18. The composition of claim 1, wherein the composition is a gel.
- 19. The composition of claim 1, wherein the composition is an emulsion.
- 20. A concentrate lubricant composition comprising:
a) from about 0.1 to about 50 wt. % of a C8-C20 fatty acid; b) from about 1 to about 50 wt. % of a polyalkylene glycol polymer; and c) from about 0.5 to about 50 wt. % of an anionic surfactant; wherein the concentrate lubricant composition maintains lubricity in the presence of an acidic substance.
- 21. The composition of claim 20, wherein the fatty acid comprises oleic acid, tall oil, or coco fatty acid.
- 22. The composition of claim 20, wherein the polyalkylene glycol polymer comprises a homopolymer.
- 23. The composition of claim 20, wherein the polyalkylene glycol polymer comprises a copolymer of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide.
- 24. The composition of claim 20, wherein the polyalkylene glycol polymer comprises a block copolymer.
- 25. The composition of claim 20, wherein the composition further comprises an additional functional ingredient.
- 26. The composition of claim 25, wherein the additional functional ingredient comprises a surfactant, a neutralizing agent, a stabilizing agent, a coupling agent, a dispersing agent, an antiwear agent, an antimicrobial agent, a foam inhibitor, a foam generator, a viscosity modifier, a sequestrant, a chelating agent, a biofilm reducing agent, a dye, an anticorrosion agent, an antistatic agent, an odorant, a secondary lubricant, or mixtures thereof.
- 27. The composition of claim 20, wherein the composition can be safely consumed by humans or mammals.
- 28. The composition of claim 20, wherein the anionic surfactant comprises sulfates, sulfonates, sulfosuccinates, sulfosuccinamates, sulfonated esters, sulfonated amides, phosphate esters, anionic carboxylates, or mixtures thereof.
- 29. The composition of claim 28, wherein the anionic surfactant comprises dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate, sodium linear alkylnaphaline sulfonate, sodium lauryl sulfate, or mixtures thereof.
- 30. The composition of claim 20, further comprising a solvent.
- 31. The composition of claim 30, wherein the solvent comprises water, an alcohol, or a polyol.
- 32. The composition of claim 20, wherein the composition is a solid.
- 33. The composition of claim 20, wherein the composition is a paste.
- 34. The composition of claim 20, wherein the composition is a liquid.
- 35. The composition of claim 20, wherein the composition is a gel.
- 36. The composition of claim 20, wherein the composition is an emulsion.
- 37. A method of lubricating a moving surface, the method comprising:
a) providing a moving surface; b) providing an acidic substance; c) providing a lubricant composition comprising:
i) a fatty acid ii) a polyalkylene glycol polymer; iii) an anionic surfactant; and iv) a solvent, wherein the anionic surfactant is selected such that the lubricant composition maintains lubricity in the presence of the acidic substance; and d) applying the lubricant composition to the moving surface.
- 38. The method of claim 37, wherein
a) the fatty acid is present from about 0.0001 to about 50 wt. % of the total weight; b) the polyalkylene glycol polymer is present from about 0.001 to about 50 wt. % of the total weight; and c) the anionic surfactant is present from about 0.0005 to about 25 wt. % of the total weight.
- 39. The method of claim 37, wherein the fatty acid is a C8-C20 fatty acid.
- 40. The method of claim 37, wherein the fatty acid comprises oleic acid, tall oil, or coco fatty acid.
- 41. The method of claim 37, wherein the polyalkylene glycol polymer comprises a homopolymer.
- 42. The method of claim 37, wherein the polyalkylene glycol polymer comprises a copolymer of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide.
- 43. The method of claim 37, wherein the polyalkylene glycol polymer comprises a block copolymer.
- 44. The method of claim 37, wherein the composition further comprises an additional functional ingredient.
- 45. The method of claim 44, wherein the additional functional ingredient comprises a surfactant, a neutralizing agent, a stabilizing agent, a coupling agent, a dispersing agent, an antiwear agent, an antimicrobial agent, a foam inhibitor, a foam generator, a viscosity modifier, a sequestrant, a chelating agent, a biofilm reducing agent, a dye, an anticorrosion agent, an antistatic agent, an odorant, a secondary lubricant, or mixtures thereof.
- 46. The method of claim 37, wherein the composition can be safely consumed by humans or mammals.
- 47. The method of claim 37, wherein the anionic surfactant comprises sulfates, sulfonates, sulfosuccinates, sulfosuccinamates, sulfonated esters, sulfonated amides, phosphate esters, anionic carboxylates, or mixtures thereof.
- 48. The method of claim 47, wherein the anionic surfactant comprises dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate, sodium linear alkylnaphaline sulfonate, sodium lauryl sulfate, or mixtures thereof.
- 49. The method of claim 37, wherein the solvent comprises water, an alcohol, or a polyol.
- 50. The method of claim 37, wherein the composition is a solid.
- 51. The method of claim 37, wherein the composition is a paste.
- 52. The method of claim 37, wherein the composition is a liquid.
- 53. The method of claim 37, wherein the composition is a gel.
- 54. The method of claim 37, wherein the composition is an emulsion.
- 55. A method of lubricating a moving surface, the method comprising:
a) providing a moving surface; b) providing an acidic substance; c) providing a diluted lubricant composition comprising:
i) from about 0.0001 to about 50 wt. % of a C8-C20 fatty acid; ii) from about 0.001 to about 50 wt. % of a polyalkylene glycol polymer; iii) from about 0.0005 to about 25 wt. % of an anionic surfactant; and iv) a solvent, wherein the diluted lubricant composition maintains lubricity in the presence of the acidic substance; and d) applying the lubricant composition to the moving surface.
- 56. The method of claim 55, wherein the fatty acid comprises oleic acid, tall oil, or coco fatty acid.
- 57. The method of claim 55, wherein the polyalkylene glycol polymer comprises a homopolymer.
- 58. The method of claim 55, wherein the polyalkylene glycol polymer comprises a copolymer of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide.
- 59. The method of claim 55, wherein the polyalkylene glycol polymer comprises a block copolymer.
- 60. The method of claim 55, wherein the composition further comprises an additional functional ingredient.
- 61. The method of claim 60, wherein the additional functional ingredient comprises a surfactant, a neutralizing agent, a stabilizing agent, a coupling agent, a dispersing agent, an antiwear agent, an antimicrobial agent, a foam inhibitor, a foam generator, a viscosity modifier, a sequestrant, a chelating agent, a biofilm reducing agent, a dye, an anticorrosion agent, an antistatic agent, an odorant, a secondary lubricant, or mixtures thereof.
- 62. The method of claim 55, wherein the composition can be safely consumed by humans or mammals.
- 63. The method of claim 55, wherein the anionic surfactant comprises sulfates, sulfonates, sulfosuccinates, sulfosuccinamates, sulfonated esters, sulfonated amides, phosphate esters, anionic carboxylates, or mixtures thereof.
- 64. The method of claim 63, wherein the anionic surfactant comprises dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate, sodium linear alkylnaphaline sulfonate, sodium lauryl sulfate, or mixtures thereof.
- 65. The method of claim 55, wherein the solvent comprises water, an alcohol, or a polyol.
- 66. The method of claim 55, wherein the composition is a solid.
- 67. The method of claim 55, wherein the composition is a paste.
- 68. The method of claim 55, wherein the composition is a liquid.
- 69. The method of claim 55, wherein the composition is a gel.
- 70. The method of claim 55, wherein the composition is an emulsion.
- 71. A method of mixing a lubricant for a moving surface comprising:
a) providing
i) a fatty acid; ii) a polyalkylene glycol polymer; and iii) an anionic surfactant; and b) combining the fatty acid, the polyalkylene glycol polymer, and the anionic surfactant to form a lubricant concentrate at the location where the lubricant is to be used, wherein the lubricant concentrate maintains lubricity in the presence of an acidic substance; and c) applying the lubricant concentrate to a moving surface.
